I don’t think it was ever getting that far, but both wrestlers should be a little embarrassed at their reactions. No need for it. Carter won by major (is that allowed??) and that should have been the end of it.
Meh. As long as he’s back for big tens. Again, it was Washington who started the crap after the match, not Carter.
And some might say it was Carter who started the crap before the match.
Either way, it’s crap that someone started, and more crap ensued. It was two-sided crap.

Carter’s social media post started the whole thing. I’m fine with talking shit if you can back it up. Which he did. But don’t get mad when the person you call out gets upset about it.
The time to do something about it is the entire 7 minutes on the mat.

Exactly. I've never really been a fan of Starocci's schtick and I'm not bothered by Washington being upset over it, but then fight like a raging bull for 7 minutes. Don't stall out during the match and get chippy after you just got your butt whipped.
I guess Washington didn’t see it that way. Again, I have no problem with what Carter posted because he backed it up. But you think no other competitors would take issue with this? I would say the majority of kids this age would have something to say after the match.
I believe most people would take offense to that. You have a different opinion but it doesn’t mean everyone thinks like that.
He had seven minutes to do something about it during the match. Then he acts all tough after the whistle is blown. Lame.
Some people are more easily offended than you. Washington is one of them.
Well, I’m not assuming Washington’s beef at the closing whistle was entirely because of the pre-match Twitter crap. Seems like he thought something unnecessary happened at the end there.
Agreed. We’ve seen plenty of examples in all sports where opponents react negatively after someone talks shit. I don’t think Carter cared that Washington came after him either. Some on here seem surprised that he did.
If I was a fan of another school I’d want 10 Carter Staroccis on my team.

I would expect any individual with an ounce of competitiveness to have an issue with Carter's tweets. I would expect that competitive individual to then put forth maybe an even more focused and intense effort than normal. At the end of the competition I would expect the slighted competitor to respond different ways depending on the final result. If Washington had won with a determined effort I would expect some chirping. If with the same determined effort Washington had either lost a tight, hotly contested match or got his ass whooped I would expect both to shake hands and acknowledge their mutual respect for each other. If Washington wrestled the 2nd half of the match like it was just too damn hard and that led to him getting his ass kicked, STFU, shake hands and get off the mat.
No matter what I would expect from the other kid I am with JTsteel on this one. If I am Cael I explain to Carter that no matter what I have your back and I will always be standing right there next to you. However, if I have to come onto the mat like that again we will need to have one of "THOSE" conversations.
Funniest comment was when SVN was in a scramble with Rooks and the announcer said SVN ' weaseled out ' of a takedown by Rooks. Had me laughing!

Washington wrestled a nice first period and then gassed and stalled his butt off to the point where it was simply ridiculous and a competent official would have stalled him out. In short, he had the opportunity to shut Carter up, on the mat, but he was incapable of doing so. Then, failing at that, he decided to act all tough and start some crap, after the whistle.
That's the long and short of it. Glad Carter is on my team and proud of his work ethic, drive, intensity and success. Don't change a bit, Carter. Not one bit.

Carter was a punk today, not DJ. I was matside. ALL of the extra curriculars were instigated by Carter being an A$$.
Just my opinion but this shit took place three years ago in Carter's freshman year or something to that effect. Who cares I'm wondering why Carter was so amped up years later. I think it was what was mentioned above where he wanted to hype himself up for a match

When the whistle blew, it was Washington who got up in Carter's face and started all the activity after the match. You only need to watch it to see that. You're simply wrong.
I’m not going to back and read thru it all, but I thought I read a lot of defending Washington for being upset and virtually no one saying Carter should stay off social media.

I'm guessing @Hoosier Lion was at the match today so I wouldn't be so sure he was wrong. Small gym. If he was there he's probably the most credible poster on the board about today's events.

Re-watch it. Carter shoved DJ’s head into the mat 2x after the whistle. The ref scolded him then. After the match he did it again. DJ responded at that point. Casey followed Carter into the locker room angrily and when he came out Cael went in visibly pissed. It was all Carter being a punk. I was embarrassed for PSU. The whole program is nothing but class but that guy.

I thought the ref said something to Carter right before the end of the match, that I interpreted as a warning.

It doesn't give him the right to get in Carter's face after he embarrasses himself by standing out of bounds and refusing to wrestle for the entire 3rd Period. Utterly ridiculous that the Ref didn't stall him out of the match. But of course, you're here claiming Carter should allow some loser beatch to get in his face - go pound salt troll.
