Brooks looked off last week even. The guy he wrestled got pinned by Maryland's 174 in that guy's only win this year. Dude was taking it to him. This is a completely new challenge for Cael tbh ... a season that starts in January then immediately gets locked down, no open tournaments, half the duals get cancelled and we're basically a month away from NCAAs.
I know we'll never know what's going on but it's been theorized Cael is taking an all out approach (especially now) to get conditioning up to speed for March. Just need to trust he always has a plan.
Yeah, this. In the season-opening presser on Jan 12, Cael said: "I thought a couple of our guys are in really good shape. They were in such good shape, that .... normally, we’re not int his good of shape in October, so we had to scale things back."
I mean, most of these dudes we're seeing look ... off, in their fitness now, looked like beasts in the Fall NLWC events. Between covid and training to peak on a wacky calendar, maybe for this year we need to modify our mantra to something like: trust in Cael to adjust his own plans.
Reading comprehension is not my strong point here, so Cael thought they were in too good shape for October and had them stop training and will restart for March? aha

Dodge, dip, dive, duck and...dodge.One thing that stuck out to be about Flo's documentary on Cael is Mike Mal said Cael doesn't want anyone even watching his team warming up anymore. They also said PSU practices are notoriously not as long as others yet our guys are the best conditioned and our guys look smaller yet somehow outmuscle people.
Cael knows conditioning bottom line.

I think Cael knows two things which is why PSU's conditioning looks so good. He knows essentialism, that is focus on what is important and he knows the importance of recovery. Take those two and most of the team not killing themselves cutting large amounts of weight and the team is fresh at the end of the season. Essentialism allows for the short practice, recovery has to be planned throughout the season. One thing that stuck out to be about Flo's documentary on Cael is Mike Mal said Cael doesn't want anyone even watching his team warming up anymore.
