PSU vs tOSU Dual

  • 125 Tomasello vs No-One 6-0
  • 133 Pletcher vs Keener Tossup
  • 141 McKenna vs Cortez 4-0
  • 149 M Jordan vs Zain 0-4
  • 157 Ryan vs Nolf 0-4
  • 165 Campbell vs Joseph 0-4
  • 174 Hall vs B Jordan Tossup
  • 184 Martin vs Nickal 0-3
  • 197 Moore vs Cassar/McCutcheon 3-0
  • HWT Snyder vs Nevills 4-0
So that would nake if 17-15 tOSU with 2 tossups in there. I was conservative with Nolf/Zain/Snyder scoring bonus points. If anything, those real results may give PSU another point or 2 (net). But I think it will likely come down to 174 and 133.

Freakin' Suriano.
Hall is a lock period. I will brag about this every time he shuts Bo Jo down.

Concerning Lee and Cortez. My simple take on it is this: if Lee is as special as we have been led to believe then after spending a year in the room he should beat Cortez. If he is struggling to position himself as the obvious choice at 141 then I am concerned.

A question to be considered is if Lee is establishing himself as the 141 pounder does Cortez rethink 133?

I would imagine Yanovich starts at 125, Keener starts at 133, if Lee is doing that well in the room then he is obviously 141, rest of the lineup fills itself apart from 197 depending on Cassar/Cutch

I am 99% sure cutch didn't postpone further schooling to sit, I'd bet Cutch has a feel for his chances vs the Raptor.

New and updated!
125-Tomasello vs No One
133-Pletcher vs Question Mark(qm has moved up to 33)
141-Hayes vs Somebody(we pulled somebody's redshirt)

As you can see, I'd be careful before I picked an all Ohio St early weight points fest.

All three are great athletes. They used to play baseball with Who and What.

Cassar is very good. Should be interesting. I for one am not concerned about OSU. They will continue to battle for 2nd for years to come....DYNASTY !

an interesting thought... Is Cutch playing baseball because he knows he will be a back-up this year- in case Cassar has shoulder issues. I have been told that Cassar beats cutch, but i dont know this for sure.

It's an untruth. To be absolutely clear, Cutch came back to wrestle...not play baseball.

I find it a little hard to believe that Cassar is beating Cutch considering that Cassar has not wrestled a live match for about 2 years and I believe at the end of the season was basically drilling (remember after the Maryland match, he was underhand tossing shirts into the stands, not overhand like everyone else).

Maybe Cassar is beating Cutch this year, who knows, we will find out in about 10 weeks.

If Lee goes at 41 then Cortez transfer for nothing then ..Just to sit on the bench again another year.
I would think let Cortez go and red shirt Lee you don't have to worry about anything unless in season you have some injuries then can try something else.

I think the team race is too tight to be leaving a better wrestler on the bench, if that is really the case. Put the best guy on the mat at each weight and let the chips fall where they may.

I'll go with what Cael decides as far as the lineup. None of us know his long term plans. That Lee redshirt could affect mat time for someone like RBY or even Berge. Who knows, maybe Cael decides he wants to use the Lee redshirt to get RBY on the mat at 141 in a couple years. There's all sorts of possibilities as far as if when these boys use a redshirt. Hell, maybe Lee takes a redshirt in two or three years while Berge mans 149..... then takes over the spot as Berge moves to 157. I guess what I'm trying to say is there's a lot more that goes into these decisions than just this year...

I can't go this far. Cael's top priority will be 2018. If a move won't really help this year, then and only then future considerations come into play.

Next year we lose Zain (gulp!) but the tanners lose Snyder, Tomasello, and BoJo. The rest of the field doesn't appear close enough. 2019 should be a more comfortable team title -- possible exception if Hall shirts in order to take a 2-year run at the Olympics.

Yeah....I can agree that the season at hand is always the top priority for a coach. A lot of coaches in a lot of sports don't even know if they'll have a job next year...lol.

Cael can take a wait and see approach with Lee like he did with Hall last year. If Lee can win Midlands or the Scuffle, we'll know if he's ready.

Seems as though we had this exact conversation last year. Tight team race, pull the shirt, eight scoring wrestlers, win by 36.5.

If you have been watching the PSU room you know there's a dark horse 141 pounder in there.
I am assuming you are talking Bo. I heard last March that Bo was a legitimate threat at 141, but then his performance at (I think) one of the trials was less than awe inspiring.

I was told that was the first time he ever wrestled in A freestyle tournament,
Nevertheless it will be interesting to see how things transpire.
