  • 125 Tomasello vs No-One 6-0
  • 133 Pletcher vs Keener Tossup
  • 141 McKenna vs Cortez 4-0
  • 149 M Jordan vs Zain 0-4
  • 157 Ryan vs Nolf 0-4
  • 165 Campbell vs Joseph 0-4
  • 174 Hall vs B Jordan Tossup
  • 184 Martin vs Nickal 0-3
  • 197 Moore vs Cassar/McCutcheon 3-0
  • HWT Snyder vs Nevills 4-0

So that would nake if 17-15 tOSU with 2 tossups in there. I was conservative with Nolf/Zain/Snyder scoring bonus points. If anything, those real results may give PSU another point or 2 (net). But I think it will likely come down to 174 and 133.

Freakin' Suriano.

Tomasello is not a pinner, make it a tech. McKenna's career bonus rate is 45%, make that a decision. Zain has teched Micah twice, expect more of the same. Now a 16-15 in favor of PSU with 2 tossups and I would pick Hall over BoJo.

I am pretty sure Ke-shawn Hayes will be at 149 and Micah will be at 157....In my opinion. or Hayes at 141 and McKenna at 149

Edit- I also think PSU will have Lee at 141....but I am not nearly as confident about that opinion

Over/Under on Zain/Jason/Bo 12.5 + Joseph 4 + Hall 3, I have over/under for PSU at 19.5. Over/Under for Tomasello/Snyder = 9.5, I have over/under for OSU at 18.5.

just pointing something out....

the yarygin is typically the end of January. this year it was Jan 29th.

I would assume Kyle would go to this, as he did last year. If that is the case he will not be at the PSU dual which is slated for Feb2/4th depending on TV.

As much as "duals matter" to certain coaches, I dont see this dual having everyone on the yuk side stepping on the mat.

that being said, debating the dual score remains f** and entertaining.

I am interested to see if Cortez can keep Lee away from the 141 spot, and if Lee can do well against McKenna. Obviously no Suriano makes a dual with Ohio State very difficult. I did a quick prediction and got 19-19.

Yeah, this is what I've heard the Inside Trip bros speculating as well--McKenna, Ke-Shawn, Micah, at 141-157. I'd originally thought McKenna to 149, but have been convinced that he would keep the cut one more year, to retry vs Heil, Jack, Kolodzik, rematches vs Thorn & Eierman (who combined to stomp him at R12, via Pin & 8-0 MD), as opposed to trying his hand against Zain & Sorensen.

I'll personally, as a human being, enjoy watching a Jordan wrestle not emaciated. That family's whole steez is so austere, it would be f*n to see if less of a cut would actually result in the wrestler himself having a little bit of f*n. Additionally, given his neutral offense, I'll be very curious to see how Micah fares vs Lavallee, Berger, JoJo (if he goes; have yous heard rumors he might RS?), if not vs KemDawg & Nolf.

I'm with you on the remaining questions:
- Ke-Shawn's return from injury
- Cortez vs Nick Lee

Would it shock anyone if Ryan sat a few guys and throw the meet? He basically did last year at the most hyped dual of the season and that was on his home turf.
The odds on Ryan sitting guys for this match are minus 350. +1000 for NATO, BOJO, and Snyder to all wrestle.

I thought Ryan was done. If not, no way he holds that to a major.
Only way he did it 2 years ago was due to his totally bogus long injury timeout and stalling in a front headlock for 3+ minutes.

If he wrestles (doubtful) he's getting packed or teched

That's interesting, because McKenna has 2 years left. If he goes up to 149 for 2019, then what happens to Hayes?

My thought on this might be that if OSU had someone who could make 125 that Nato would bump to 133 and that turns the 133 toss up to a win for OSU.

  • 125 Tomasello vs ?-- tosu 5 psu-0
  • 133 Pletcher vs Keener DEC--tosu 5 psu 3
  • 141 Hayes vs Lee DEC tosu 5 psu 6
  • 149 Mckenna vs Zain MD tosu 5 psu 9
  • 157 Jordon vs Nolf tech tosu 5 psu 14
  • 165 Campbell vs Joseph MD tosu 5 psu 18
  • 174 Hall vs B Jordan Tossup DEC tosu 5 psu 21
  • 184 Martin vs Nickal Dec tosu 5 psu 23
  • 197 Moore vs Cassar/McCutcheon DEC tosu 8 psu 21
  • HWT Snyder vs Nevills MD tosu 11 psu 21

to me 133 and 141 are the game changers for PSU--- I do not see Jordon beating Hall, Hall will just keep getting better and the cut will keep getting harder for BO---I think that Nickal has lost to Martin for the last time. if all stays the same but PSU loss 133 and 141--much different outcome.

lol Yeah it will be strange to see Micah at his proper weight, I agree he will benefit from this and I predict only Nolf and Kemerer are out of his talent range to beat.

Wait, is "Question Mark" wrestling 125 for Penn State? Or is "No One" wrestling 125 for Penn State? I checked the rosters and the articles and so far I cannot find a "Question Mark" or a "No One" even on PSU's roster, let alone leading the pack at 125.

Hahaha....better check the student directory. Middle initial is @.

I didn't check there, but I did check Wrestlestat, and somehow "Question Mark" came up ranked 74th in the country, while "No One", amazingly finished 113th, ahead of many wrestlers who actually won regulation matches last year. Stats are amazing.

"No one" is a tough hombre. He finished ahead of MSU at nationals in the past.

Funny story from high school. Starters for each team are posted by the scoreboard for each team. Other team at 98 has 'FFT' posted. During the JV match, some girl says "who names their kid FFT"?

One year we named our IM softball team Bye. Reached the finals without playing -- other teams saw they had Bye and didn't show up.

PSU wised up to us and called us Team Bye for the finals. Other team showed up. We lost the only game we actually played.

My son once informed me his schedule listed a teacher named "Teeba" and none of the other students knew anything about him... I looked and explained what TBA means.

Many wrestlers last season at 149, would have preferred that their coach send "Question Mark" or "No One" out to face Penn State, instead of them.

I probably didn't phrase that very well. The only bit I've 'become convinced of' is McKenna to 141 *this* year--and that's very tepid convincing. With so little intel available on Ke-Shawn, who can tell about this year, or next?

Interesting. I wonder if this match happens during their intrasquad. I hope it does.
I'm particularly looking forward to their match at 141 vs PSU, who is sending out "Mystery Man" at 141, to go with the winner of the wrestle off at 125 between "Question Mark" and "No One".

Not being a smart ass or anything. I really believe watching his kid stagger around like a drunk college student had a huge impact on Tom Ryan and he will never, ever again let his son wrestle Jason Nolf.

Micah is walking around at 165 right now, per Steelwood podcast guys. He will be 157 this year.
Hayes and McKenna will be 141/149 or vice versa.
Jake Ryan is not wrestling this year and will seek a medical hardship. May come back next year.

Both NaTo and Kyle will wrestle at oversees events. If Yarygin is at that time, both may miss the Penn State dual.

NaTo will be on a "pitch count" this year. So a freshman will see a lot of action at 125, probably Brady Koontz.

Agree with above guy - Jordans cut too much weight.

My understanding is Mckenna will be at 149 and Jordan at 157---and the PSU side Lee will be at 141--Cortez not starting--he cant beat Lee----that line-up may shift your thinking a little..

Has anybody else heard this?

Some great matches up ahead and that Ohio State lineup is loaded. This is certainly the all-in year for Ryan and the Buckeyes. I would think that the idea is to simply get to the Nationals, qualify all 10, and have everyone healthy. If the stars line up correct, then yes, send everyone to PSU for a great meet, if not, then see you at the Big Ten's, then Nationals. It was a perfect off season storm for Ryan, ironically, from the second day he was at Aruba.

That first day didn't go so well, but, well, you know.

Are you kidding? I haven't even heard who the hell will wrestle for Penn State in the first three weights, let alone who can, or can't beat who. Right now I have "Question Mark", "No One", and "Mystery Man" as three of our main competitors in the room.
Luckily 5 of the next 7 are returning champs!
