I'm very confused on the Gomez match. Can't figure out how 7-5 with a challenge to make it 9-5 becomes 5-8.
WOW GOMEZ JUST GOT RIPPED OFF BAD....THE GUY STEPPED OUT "FIRST" GOMEZ SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE POINT..INSTEAD GUY GETS 3...THE TABLE WAS ARGUING...THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL TO DO...CASEY WAS PISSED !!!! UNREAL THAT WAS TERRIBLE NO QUESTION !!!! SICK TO MY STOMACH....THEY HAVE TO MAKE SOME CHANGES IN FREESTYLE....
Now what do we wait on ? I am sick to my stomach for Gomez who is from our very own NLWC....UN FREAKIN REAL....No wonder why the whole crowd was booing even from other countries !!!!
I prefer folk but I also like freestyle and in some ways appreciate the type of wrestling it delivers over folk, such as seeing guys on their feet instead of 2 minutes of stall riding. But until international wrestling can remedy the fact that in every tournament there's going to be not one but an embarrassing handful of screw jobs that can only be explained by corruption, it's going to be a step above pro wrestling. And until that day, the cheerleaders urging the US to scrap folk in favor of freestyle can please shut up already. Folk refereeing has its moments but at least I'm never wondering whether someone's on the take. In freestyle it's guaranteed.

I agree, but it's not really a fair comparison. If this were a major international Folk tournament I'm sure there would be similar results. They need to get a handle on the politics shown by the refs and judges. I'm not sure how you do that, but there has been some real bias in Rio and it hurts the sport.
Lol at people saying freestyle needs to be changed. No. You simply need to eradicate anyone from about 10 Eastern European countries from having any influence at all over the sport. Good luck with that.

Sadly this isn't a folk vs free argument, it's a domestic vs. international argument -- just ask Roy Jones Jr. But to be sure, international wrestling has had more than its share of such events -- hell, just a couple months ago, a Russian official waived a gun on the mat while arguing a call.
UWW needs to become a leader in all of sports, in cleaning up this garbage once and for all.
One way to do it: unlimited 3-min periods until either a pin or a 10-pt TF. It would minimize the effect of any single screwjob ruling on the mat, and it would make conditioning even more of a factor (which OBTW favors us, but never mind that).
