Sunday Morning, Frank Time

Tervel practiced only 5 times in the last 4 months due to a bad back, said his back locked up boarding the plane to Rio. He earned it the spot, so not throwing shade here but it makes you wonder what Varner couldn't have done if he bulked up. Looking forward to seeing whether Gwiz can take over this class.

Here's hoping Frank gets by this guy and Italy is down in the dumps about losing in the semis.

For anyone that wants to see a replay of the Gomez sequence, very short...it's on Twitter. Jason Nolf just retweeted.

Sadly this isn't a folk vs free argument, it's a domestic vs. international argument -- just ask Roy Jones Jr. But to be sure, international wrestling has had more than its share of such events -- hell, just a couple months ago, a Russian official waived a gun on the mat while arguing a call.

UWW needs to become a leader in all of sports, in cleaning up this garbage once and for all.

One way to do it: unlimited 3-min periods until either a pin or a 10-pt TF. It would minimize the effect of any single screwjob ruling on the mat, and it would make conditioning even more of a factor (which OBTW favors us, but never mind that).
Unlimited periods would never happen and for good reason. It would be impossible to predict how long a match would go let alone a whole tournament. With some of these guys being so close in ability if the only way to end it was tf or pin some matches wouldn't end for more than an hour after somebody drops from exhaustion. I don't care how good the conditioning is the wrestling could get unwatchable in the later rounds.

I think they have it just about right. Kinda like folkstyle stalling. The rules are just about right but have to figure out a way to make refs apply it. In international wrestling they have to figure out a way to uproot corruption. I have no idea how to do that when its so widespread.
