Super Early NCAA Seed Predictions

Dean could very well be seeded above Elam at 7 if he loses to Tanner Sloan in the B12 finals. Headed to SV now at 1-1.

Damn 8th would suck

You can see why Cael gave the green light for Levi
Going to be tough for SVN and Facundo to AA

J madden or csauertieg, could you
kindly project Iowa seeds for me? Thanks

I’m not going to pretend to know how they seed NCAAs, but something about the Big Ten runner-up getting the 8-seed seems off to me. Also, Levi is 2nd RPI, the B1G champ and has beaten RPIs 1, 5 and 6. Thinking he might sneak in to top 3.

Best guess:

Lee 1
Teske 16-20 range
Woods 1 or 2
Murin 7-9
Siebrecht 8-10
Kennedy 6-8
Brands 9-11
Assad 11-14
Warner 13-17
Cass 3-4
I think Murin is likely looking at 4/5 the way things are shaking out. Above Gomez and Yahya. Behind Yianni, Sasso, Parco and maybe Henson?

197 is a mess after Beard and Sloan lost, 2-8 is a total crapshoot. Elam and Traux both didn't wrestle much and they won't take into consideration past years. Laird could be top4 now with only one loss but a weak schedule outside of Dean. Heck if I know..

Dean is 1-3 against top 10 competition.

You’re looking at Nino, Elam, Laird, Beard, Sloan, Allred and Truax probably ahead of him. That’s 5 conference champs, a second who has a win over Max and a second who has two wins over Allred.

True. For sure behind Sasso, Yianni, Parco (just won Pac 12 tourney) and Henson (won ACC tonight and has beaten Sasso). He could fall behind Thomas too. Also Mauller and Paniro Johnson are coming up for the Big 12 title. Whoever wins that could be ahead of him. Johnson has the H2H against him. I say 6 at the highest.

I'm fine with this all things considered. Deans seed is less important than his match up more than anyone on our team. He can beat anyone as we've seen.

There’s not completely impossible path to a Van Ness-Murin second round match which would be totally hilarious.

Seed predictions barring some results yet to come in the ACC/B12 conference tournaments:

RBY: 1
BB: 6
SVN: 14
Levi: 4
Facundo: 15?
Carter: 1
Brooks: 1
Dean: 8
Greg: 2
Who do you think gets seeded higher then Levi? Austin, Josh H, and Franek? Franek lost to Robb this year so hoping that moves Levi above him.

Yup. Franek also beat Zerban though. I think Levi could absolutely be the 2. Nowhere from 2-4 would surprise me. He’s probably the seed I’m least sure of next to SVN and Facundo.

So you put some thought into this. :)

That’s crazy.

Rankings are one thing but I’m pretty sure seeding will come down to the formula. Brooks not getting 15 matches he won’t have RPI. He will most likely come up as #3 with the formula.

Is there a human element?

I’d be super pissed if I was Keckeisen and AB gets the 3 while he gets the 2 and Hidlay the 1. I know Hidlay beat him this season but he has to feel like he has a better shot with him than against AB

Crap - he’s going to have to deal with Hidlay and his bs in the semis. Hope we get the same ref had today

Keckeisen got that win back in NOLA and could well get the 1.

There are better experts than me on this subject within this site. The “human element” is the coaches ranking which AB will be #1. RPI is some crazy formula but without 15 matches he don’t get any points for that.

I think it will go Kecklesein, Hidlay, Brooks even though we all know Brooks should be 1

My understanding is that there is wiggle room beyond the formula.

I think he’s a lock for top 3.

Edit..I take my “lock” back. Could be 4 with AOC, Franek and Hunphries ahead. Will be interesting to see how the coaches rank them

Seeding Brooks anything but #1 just punishes other wrestlers. Brooks didn’t forfeit from the conference tournament. Hopefully common sense prevails.

If he wrestles 2 more matches this year then none of this is even a question. He has 13 total matches and that comes with consequences. All that being said..I don’t think AB cares if he was seeded 26th. He’s the class of the weight

Ok, when do we get seeds? If AB is 3 and gets Hidlay in Semis, this is just wrong for those 2.

Improper seeding affects the field neat more than the top guy. And it has a weirder effect on the backside. On no planet should AB be anything other than the 1 seed. Making him the 3 would punish the now #2 who loses his better opportunity to reach the finals.
