U23 worlds

I don’t remember AB using that knee pick much before. Ankles, yes, but the knee pick/snatch is new.

Is that a FS adaptation? Less risky? Can’t give up a go behind if you’re never on the ground.

Another Magomedov from "AIN"--that kid looked super slick, beats another AIN, w/ a less Dagestani name, 10-0.
O'Toole on A up next.

  • AB and Bagaev in a handfight fest early--Russian seems HUGE.
  • Bagaev gets on the clock, and then Aaron strikes. 3-0 w/ 50 sec left in the first
  • Bagaev gets a single and scores 2 on exposure off the scramble.
  • End of first, AB up 3-2

  • AB working the head hard in the 2nd. Gets put on the clock 2:20 remaining. Then Aaron with a swing single, low-double finish. 5-2.
  • 1:20 AB gets to a leg, but loses it.
  • 1:05 same deal again.
  • 0:38 Bagaev works crazy hard for a step out, and appears gassed. 5-3
  • 0:02 AB gets hit for fleeing 5-4
That's it, AB wins!

I was out of town and missed the best day of this tournament with all our best guys wrestling. Huge win for AB over Bagaev and now he should have another good match in the finals against the defending U23 champion from Japan. Keegan looked incredible but might have a tough one as well against AIN in the finals. Really wish Iran was there though because Hendrickson vs Masoumi would have been awesome. Heavyweight in the US is pretty damn stacked right now. Pretty sure all 5 guys from today are still alive with the 2 who lost getting pulled into repechage. Great first day

Trumble is showing a considerable strength advantage over his Turkish opponent. Turkey is getting really frustrated by not being able to finish anything and getting horsed around. Trumble looked impressive in an 11-0 tech.

If he can get down to 197 effectively, he is going to be trouble for everyone not named Aaron Brooks.

Hardy drops an exciting 14-11 match to Bayramov (AZE). Great sequence toward the end where Bayramov was in deep, Hardy went for a chest wrap for exposure but called 4 for Bayramov. Hardy ended up getting a 2, Bayramov went for a leg lace, Hardy countered and almost got the fall.

They won't wrestle.

Hidlay is going up to 197 - Trumble shirting.

Trumble into the finals with a 11-0 tech. He’s looking really really good. Pretty sure he has India in the finals. Trumble should be the favorite from what I’ve seen

Trumble dismantled the Armenian in the Semis. Looks like he hurt his opponent's ribs with shot defense, got the two, and then a tight gut wrench that he took left and right until he got the 11-0 tech.

Brooks is definitely the aggressor early on. Heavy hands against a short, strong Japanese opponent. Brooks breaks through the defense with a knee-pick for 2. Back on the attack, keeping a relentless pace. Japan is warned for passivity. Beautiful ankle pick by Brooks for a 2 + 2with :50 left in the first. Japan had zero counter. Really slick! 6-0 AB. Another takedown with :25 seconds left into a leg lace, and AB is your WORLD CHAMPION with a 10-0 Tech Fall in the 1st!

Man the failure to call PD there was criminal. Too bad Wyatt is an American Hero, and doesn’t gives a rip about life and limb. USA at Hvwt is STACKED.

(Hendrickson wins 13-3, but his knee was definitely hurt on a scramble early on).

No worries, they hit it with cold spray, he's good to go
