Did anyone else see this? At first they said he collided with someone running down the sideline, but after the game he said he went down with a headache. We was holding the top left side of his head as if he had a collision. An odd spot for a headache.

If he keeps coaching I wouldnt be surprised to see him have a stroke on the sideline. I know it’s a stressful career and that most coaches are Type A personalities, but Meyer takes Type A to a whole new and unhealthy level.

He's going to get out of OSU and disappear for a year, just like before. Then he'll show up in the NFL for his final payday.

Maybe he’s taking some new “memory” medication and this is a side effect. Since ya know he does have memory issues per his own admission. But I agree with an earlier poster, he’s just kind of an odd dude.

I would be surprised - but not shocked - if he moved on to a different college job.

I expect that I have as much chance of coaching an NFL team as does Urban Meyer.
He is an absolutely top-shelf College Coach...... but I can’t imagine any NFL front office thinking he would be a legit Coaching candidate for that league.

I don't know what other college job he would take other than Notre Dame or Texas; maybe USC.

Or maybe he will just find some under-the-radar job with a huge booster who is willing to waste tons of money to build their program.

Doesn't stress bring on migraines and/or reduced blood flow to parts of the brain??...he puts a helluva lot of pressure on himself...

I said last week that for the last couple of years he just hasn’t looked healthy.

From the Cleveland paper

Those who know Meyer's history were aware of the possibility of a headache as the culprit. Meyer has been diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac that can put pressure on the brain and in some cases cause headaches.

Meyer had surgery to drain the cyst in March of 2014. The independent investigation before this season into Meyer's handling of former assistant Zach Smith revealed that Meyer takes medicine to deal with the headaches, and he said that medicine has caused memory issues at times.

I commented this week on sideline closeups of Meyer during the PSU game. He looked tired, distant, detached, etc. His comments after the game about looking up and seeing white pom poms and PSU leading 26-14, "felt OSU had lost". A strong minded leader would never admit that to the press.

Now the "headache" issue during a game? He had similar incidents in 1998 and 2003. Although he had the cyst drained in 2014, its still there. While not caused by stress, multiple articles mention stress exasperates fluid filling the cyst.

I was reading Bucknuts or Eleven Warriors about six months ago, and a poster told a story of being on a treadmill in OSU's athletic complex, and Meyer was several machines down. Meyer went down on a knee and after several minutes was walked out. I'm still not convinced he doesnt have heart problems and his issues at UF were more than "reflux"

Between the scandal, and his health issues, would not be surprised to see him "retire" from OSU after this or next season.

Add in what must have been (and still is, no doubt) the stress of the Zach Smith thing to the normal stress of that job. He sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen- for his own sake he needs to consider retirement. No job is worth dying for, certainly no sports job.

There is no question in my mind that Urban neither looks ,sounds or acts well. He has been the coach at OSU for 7 years now which is at least 2 years longer than any over/under predictions had him staying at the job.

I really think that he will retire soon . Probably not this year unless he is absolutely forced to if for no other reason then not to give the Bret Mc F***face and Paul Fienbaums of the world the satisfaction.

More from this article:

"I'm very healthy," Meyer said at a news conference on Sept. 17. "I've had cyst issues in my head over the years. And I've had a couple of procedures and actually one surgery, also very intense medicine.

"I can just be truthful and tell you I've had some pretty heavy meds at times, but it certainly doesn't impact the way I coach."

how could he possibly know that?

Doesn't tOSU have a responsibility here? If you have an employee with a known serious medical condition and the condition is known to be exacerbated by stress aren't they obligated (at least morally) to do something to help him?

You are talking about cover-up U here, OSU isn’t stepping in, it could hurt their brand.

Amazing how some of you sound like you want him to step down …….. wonder if that's because of his success on the field as well as recruiting?? :)

Welcome to BWI McAndrew Board of Altruism. We celebrate the common bond of humanity and are strictly concerned with the health of Urban Meyer. ;)

Or the fact that he knew one if his assistants was repeatedly abusing his wife, and did nothing about it.

I’m torn. On one hand, my heart goes out to the guy and I know mockingor questioning whatever his apparent distress or pain or whatever is wrong. On the other hand, I dont trust him or believe there’s no chance it’s part of some narrative. This last debacle has really damaged his credibility with me.

For now, I’ll choose to believe the mystery poster who said he’d seen some health issues in person (along with the other stories) and believe there’s some health issue. I wish him the best in recovering or beating whatever ails him. It helps me feel like human decency is winning out over the adversity of rival fandom. I’m risking being a sucker.

Shirley, you can’t be serious.

When questioned yesterday by a reporter, he admitted this has happened in other games and press conferences this season. The reporter had pointed out other instances where he was seen rubbing his head. In reading up on the topic, the side effects sound pretty bad and debilitating, and if a cyst fills up after being drained, surgery is a strong possibility.
