Zahid Valencia

Mat.com is deleting every post that refers to Zahid's situation. Amazing. Are they run by someone in North Korea or Russia?
To be fair and bipartisan, nothing has been confirmed. The Arizona article quotes pat mineo as their source. If that’s the case and Arizona state is using pat mineo as the source could be why the mat is deleting threads, not to be asshats but because nothing has been confirmed officially

At least Intermat and FLO are reporting it as news. Apparently, Mat.com is afraid of free speech. Who moderates their forums? Kim Jung-un?

His original tweet said did not impact NCAA eligibility, so either their other source is Willie or they actually know.

It also quoted Zeke.

Understandable. But there is 1 dual left and 2 weeks before pac 12s, if this came out about a penn stater Cael would do the same thing. Willie says he is done for the year but has that officially come out. ASU is doing their due diligence on the matter before they take the next steps

I'm all for PSU getting ahead but hopefully it won't be like this. Also, AB upsetting Zahid at the NCAAs isn't entirely impossible. I'd definitely give him more of a shot than I would have given Max Dean against MyMar.

FWIW Lehigh's match notes do not show Zahid as a probable at 184 for tomorrow night. It still will be a great dual, with no Zahid, Lehigh should win. #9 Humphreys dec #13 Teemer
#3 Kutler dec #9 Anthony Val
#9 Wood dec #4 Hall

Wow. Crazy story. Feel like there has to be more to come.

Wonder if/how this affects Cael Valencia’s recruiting. Depending on the situation this may have burnt a bridge with the family, or if Zeke put up a big fight for Zahid it could seal the deal.

Really too bad for wrestling given his stature and potential. It's really no use speculating on which recreational drug it was, but I'm a little relieved to hear it wasn't a PED. Stupidity in an early twenty-something is easier to get past than cheating. Was really looking forward to Brooks Zahid in March.

Pat Mineo (@MrPatMineo) Tweeted:
Per source, I can confirm that Daton Fix has been popped by WADA (World Anti-Doping Association) for a failed PED test that was administered at the Mario Pellicone a few weeks ago. Fix may be out for the Olympic Trials as well... Wow! https://t.co/ZrijouuDYw

I disagree. We lost 3 great wrestlers to tragic injury in one season and you don't see Iowa crying for us. I'll take the extra points however they come.

Is Mineo the one who breaks bad information a lot as well or am I thinking of someone else?

No, that's him. Since we have a real newspaper quoting Zeke I'm fairly certain the Zahid news is accurate, even if they also quote Mineo, but I'll wait and see with respect to Fix.

Mineo clearly has sources but he has no journalistic principles so he's often first out of the gate with news while others who found out at the same time are still attempting to corroborate it. And sometimes that gamble doesn't work out for him. Sometimes it does.

It said indefinitely not that he was removed from the team roster completely meaning there are options.

Quite accurate description. I was thinking of the old saying: "Let Mikey try it...….he'll eat anything" But in his case it is : "Let Pat hear it.....he'll print anything"

If the Fix report ends up being true, someone else will have to qualify 57kg at the Pan Am qualifier next month as he was slated to go.

The ASU article simply said “indefinitely”. I’ll believe Zahid is done for good when I see it. Clearly there’s more to the story than what we’re getting on Twitter and the few short articles. For starters, I cannot see a public university like ASU (or the NCAA) using the results of a foreign administered drug test from an unaffiliated body as the basis for a suspension. That can’t be true, can it?? There’s got to be more to this.

Damn! Now Pat Mineo is saying Daton Fix also got popped at the Pellicone.

Edit: Adderall is what he is reporting.

This is from the NCAA bylaws:

31.2.3.1.2 Positive Drug Test—Non-NCAA Athletics Organization.
A student-athlete under a drug-testing suspension from a national or international sports governing body that has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code shall not participate in NCAA intercollegiate competition for the duration of the suspension.

Welp, shows you how clueless I am. Good find, thanks.

Wow, aren't most WADA bans multi-year? If so Fix is probably out next year...

Well that pretty much lays it out. Looks like ASU really doesn't have much say in whether Zahid competes.
