... There is no Medical Exception for marijuana.
Makes no sense.

I once heard about an individual who couldn’t walk anymore because he didn’t have, because he lacked, marijuana to smoke.

(The Cucaracha he was called.)

If Cenzo and Marinelli are on opposite sides of the NCAA bracket, which seems likely, then Marinelli still has to make it to the finals. Maybe the third time will be the charm.
Stranger things have happened, but I'd be shocked if they were on the same side. As you say ... "seems likely". And I'm saying that even before the conference tourneys, which I rarely do.
Wick already has losses to both, AND a loss to McFadden
McFadden has losses to Bullard, Monday, and Smith
White has losses to Wick, Marinelli and Joseph
Shields has losses to Griffin, Joseph, and White twice
Griffin is undefeated.

The NCAA's is a body-of-work seeding machine, or so they say. An undefeated Griffin could slide in at #2 if he wins the PAC12, but his resume isn't as strong as either Joseph's or Marinelli's. A 1&2 or 1&3 seeding for Joseph and Marinelli is highly likely.

I was just having a little fun with the 5 champions. While it's possible, it's unlikely.

Here's what I do think. Nick Lee has shown himself to be the man to beat at 41. He will win his title this year. Cenzo shines the brightest when the lights are brightest. He will become a 3 timer. Love Kemerer and he wrestled his ass off last time, but Hall will come on top in the Finals. That's 3 champs.

Next, if Z is, in fact, done. 84 is wide open. Brooks seems to be getting better every week. He's right there with Bolen and Hidlay. He could certainly win it all.

Lastly, RBY is one of 4 who could win it. Seabass may not be fully healthy. Gross is tough and smart, but as RBY showed him he is THIS close. He's a coin toss matchup with DeSanto, IMO.

So, I feel very good about 3, pretty good about 4, and 5 is not out of the question.

The only way Cenzo and Marinelli are on the same side is if NCAA deems two guys worthy of the 2 and 3 seeds. Griffith potentially is one. Potentially.

There is no 2nd person, unless something truly bizarre happens at B10s like Marinelli finishing 5th. Which no same person would predict.

what if griffin gets the 1 seed

It’s not impossible, but his body of work is simply not that high.

and let’s face it....the idea of a Cenzo Marinelli rematch would be the feature match at finals. Pairing them in the semis would be an injustice to the sport.
When the NCAA is involved, the more unexplainable the decision the more likely it is to occur. Marinelli beats Joseph at B1Gs, they will be the 2 and 3 seeds at NCAAs, assuming Griffin is undefeated.

Sadly, I know. I remember the Ed Ruth seeding and the kid from Maryland I forget his name.

On the other hand, this match occurring in the semis rather than the finals would boost the winners' teams' title chances.

Not providing this on the basis of the Zahid news. I'm waiting until it plays out, and corroborated facts emerge.

But since the mention of marijuana showed up here, and is very prominent on the interwebs where the Zahid situation is discussed (with much misinformation), thought I'd share this...

Marijuana use is a violation of NCAA Policy. It’s a banned substance in the “illicit drug” class.

If a student-athlete tests positive, they lose:
-- Half the season (1st test)
-- A full calendar year of eligibility (2nd test)

There is no Medical Exception for marijuana.

As always, thanks for sharing the rules. I didnt know the punishment was so severe on the 1st positive test.

You say it as if it's a done deal if it plays out the way you describe. Highly unlikely, #1 reason is his body of work, though we'll see.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate the insight from someone who has a practical and actual experience with NCAA rules enforcement. Like most people on this and other boards, I have been involved in several side conversations on this topic with former NCAA wrestlers and wrestling fans. In addition to the above information, I think it would be helpful to understand how the NCAA rules apply to the following questions:

A) How often are athletes tested?
B) Are there situations that would "trigger" (legal issues, university led investigations, placing/winning at an NCCA endorsed event, etc.) additional testing for an athletes?
C) How are prescription drugs (Human Growth Hormone, adderall, Xanax and others) handled?
D) Can schools initiate there own tests? If so and an athlete fails is the school required to report the failure?
E) When an athlete fails a drug test are there future required tests?

Thanks for your help!

Highest and lowest points in the lower 48. Redwood forests, desert, Lake Tahoe, volcanoes, etc. Arizona is pretty cool too though.

As Dogwelder said, beaches. Plus the coastline in general. Big Sur, Point Reyes, North Coast, etc. California also has endless farms and dairies in the Central Valley. It is the #1 ag state, by far, in the country. Unfortunately, its also the leading producer of homeless people. I'll stop right there before I go too far.

In addition to the above information, I think it would be helpful to understand how the NCAA rules apply to the following questions:

A) How often are athletes tested? Don't know, it's random. Your-round testing is done with the universities help (it's called Institutional Testing), NCAA tournament testing is done by the NCAA.
B) Are there situations that would "trigger" (legal issues, university led investigations, placing/winning at an NCCA endorsed event, etc.) additional testing for an athletes? Not to my knowledge. A previous positive test would result in additional tests for that student-athlete.
C) How are prescription drugs (Human Growth Hormone, adderall, Xanax and others) handled? Student-athletes are completely responsible for everything put into their bodies. The NCAA has a list of drugs that are non-compliant, but then states that the list is not complete. Not sure about the drugs you note, but it would be easy enough to find out. The NCAA provides the University with tons of training materials for the student-athletes, so not-knowing isn't a defense.
D) Can schools initiate there own tests? If so and an athlete fails is the school required to report the failure? They don't initiate the tests, they are told when to test. Absolutely, the school must share all drug test results.
E) When an athlete fails a drug test are there future required tests? Yes

Thanks for your help!
Best is to read this. I did answer some questions above, in red.

Great zoo in San Diego.

Less great zoo in Sacramento.

But Arizona has Mars Hill where Percival Lowell "Discovered" the canals on Mars and wrote books about Martian civilizations. Without him there would be no Marvin the Martian. Plus it also houses the telescope where Clyde Tombaugh discovered the (former) Planet Pluto. Check and Mate :)

Plus, according to certain speculation online, there is snow in Tempe! :)

Wow, if true that's remarkable. Obviously opens up a very real possibility for whoever would have been wrestling in the finals against him. Calling Mr. Brooks, Mr. Brooks, proceed to the podium.....Part of me hopes it's not true because I don't like to think poorly of wrestlers, particularly those at Zahid's level, but if true, 184 is anybody's oyster.

I was always wondering how the kid was twice the size of all the kids he wrestled, now we know! STERIODS!!!! CHEATER!!! He needs to forfeit all his matched this year which means we get back the ASU dual meet win!!!!

I was not sure if AZ was one of the 1/3 of the country with legal marijuana or not. That’s why this seems crazy if it’s weed. It would be like suspending a 21 year old for drinking beer.

If this is something harder than weed then maybe he’s out for good. If it’s weed he will be back.

EDIT - it’s not legal in AZ. Only medical.

NO POTHEADS IN WRESTLING!!!! IT IS A DANGEROUS GATEWAY DRUG!!! WEED DESTROYS YOUR WILL TO WIN OR SUCEED IN LIFE!! CAEL would never allow a pothead on the team!
