FB Recruiting Updates / Tidbits from May 31st OV weekend

I also have these players organized in more than less, my confidence in Penn State's chances of landing them. When it comes to potential commitments this weekend or in the future.

Keeping close eye on this weekend; Kemajou, Cyrus

Good spot but will likely take other visits Branch, Finney, Works, Simms

TBD: Littleton, Goodman.

Work to be done: Granville, Jackson, Porter

When it comes to Granville and Jackson, can't stress enough that Penn State really has done a great job in both but both will just be very tough to get out of the south, very similar to Jamonta Waller last year. That being said, if Penn State was able to add either or both to their class, it wouldn't be a surprise either due to the strong relationships the staff has built with both targets.

With Quincy Porter, they'd need a near perfect OV to give themselves a strong chance heading into the rest of his official visits. Ohio State and Michigan have done a very good job in that one and those are the two I'd probably keep a close eye on for him.

FB Recruiting Max Granville recaps Penn State OV

Just got off the phone with Max Granville, who OV'd this weekend.

Full story to come, but shortly put, the visit was fantastic in his eyes. Really got a different look at things being an official visit and went in-depth on a number of things.

Still has visits to USC, Texas A&M and Oklahoma coming up. Aggies and Sooners the main contenders of that trio. Penn State certainly among the favorites right now.

Commitment expected end of June following final visit.

FB Recruiting PSU commit DJ McClary talks Rutgers visit, Future OV plans

Right now it sounds like PSU will get him back on campus on June 14th and make a push to keep him. Like we mentioned previously, Diaz leaving definitely hurt things a bit with his recruitment and Rutgers made up some serious ground this weekend to the point where this could go either way right now.

No WVU tix for me.

Just got an email from Athletics saying I will NOT be getting game tickets for WVU. As a season ticket holder for 25 years I have never been denied tickets to an away game I was trying to get. I guess the smaller size of their stadium compared with increased demand by PSU fans has left me on the outside looking in. I guess I’ll have to look at the secondary market, just don’t want to pay an arm and a leg.

I was informed though, that I will be getting my tickets that I requested for the USC game.

U20 team! Best of all time

This will tell you how good the first team is.

Here is the second team-
Jax, Davino, Valencia, Webster, Mantanona, Arnold, Sinclair, Rogotzke, McDanel, Mullen

this team would be top three or not win it. Best second team also of all time

Incredible. Best u20
Team we ever had and they are young. Not to mention 7 of ten coming to PSU, counting Blaze and Bassett

Davison Guys

We've had a lot of posts on here over the past year about the Davison guys and their offensive abilities. Sometimes questioning whether they are coached up in setups, creating angles, etc. Valid observations IMO because of the guys styles, although SSS is hardly indicative of a systemic issue.

One thing that should be mentioned is that our Davison guys are friggin absolute DAWGs as was observed by @CSauertiegPSU about Barr yesterday.

Must be something in the water. Those two kids are bad-@ss.

Stay or Go - that is the question…

Curious to hear from those who attend PSU football in person, particularly season ticket holders - will you keep attending and buy season tix or will the ongoing ‘pay for play’ and most certain ticket increases with the impending $700 million improvements cause you to ‘opt out’?

We’ve had seasons for @10 years and sit in WJ so I’m fairly sure my seats will have a dramatic increase. Also, we’ve attended PSU games for @30 years and we’re attracted by the ‘success with honor’ approach by Coach Paterno. Kudos to James Franklin for pursuing similar goals in the ‘new’ era. But the game has changed and I’m not sure it interests me as much now - please ‘respect my decision’ whatever we decide. Interested to hear others perspectives…

Amazing how extremely difficult it is for the best and brightest to recreate what nature did.

OT: Memorial Day weekend movie recommendation

"One thing worries me -- will people believe me? Will they want to hear about it? Or will they want to forget the whole thing happened?" Lt j.g. Richard Strandberg (USN)...river patrol...Mekong Delta...May 1967 - May 1968

Lt. Strandberg got the answer he feared: people tend to forget. In fact, those in power are highly invested in forgetting. Worse yet, they appear to have learned nothing.

The men who so valiantly fought...and never lost a battle...in that no-win war deserve better. The movie linked below tells their story in letters they wrote home set against the backdrop of striking video footage and the music of the day. For my money, it's the most powerful and authentic war film ever made.

Memorial Day is about remembering. This movie is in memory of the men who fought in Vietnam...their courage...their sacrifice...and their tragedy:

BT returning starters in 2024 - per Athlon.

BT returning starters for 2024 - per Athlon:

IA 17 surprise team? (if an offensive pulse is detected. )

OSU 15 shaping up as another strong year

Several middle of the road teams have 14 - including MN, NE, NW, RU (possible fast starts) Which of these guys has the best year????

PSU 10 Expect D to be strong just not AS strong as we're used to. But the O could surprise to the upside if a couple WRs emerge.
Also IL, MSU, MD have 10.

Michigan: 5 (Offense: 1, Defense: 4) (Big expectations considering their very heavy losses and likely sputtering O)

WA 2 Huge drop off expected. But I wouldnt be surprised if they outperformed expectations.

Other than OSU, nobody stands out with their returning starters, a common indicator of who is likely to have above average records.

At the other end, UM stands out with just 5. making these guys likely to take a few lumps, and perhaps upsets. Too bad we dont play them this year.

PS Outside the BT, with PSU ties, VATech has 19 returning starters. Could be a pretty good year for the Hokies.

Interesting PSU targets upgraded by Rivals

The following PSU targets have been upgraded from 3stars to 4stars per the latest Rivals player evaluations:

TE - A. Olesh
DE - J. Loftin
DE - Y. Kemajou
CB - B. Finney

The good news is that we are in a good spot for all 4. Encouraging.

Rivals still has S Kainoa Winston rated as a 5.7 3star. As most of you know, QB Matt Zollers has soared up to #70 in the top 100. I know we are still trying to flip him.
