Meh, Nick failed to shoot in the match and continues to allow opponents low on his ankles. He has some work to do for next year if he wants to get to the top of the podium. That includes pushing the action a little.

He's fine. That's not gonna change. He's not the athlete that some are. He's slow-twitch. His game is to technique people to death. Maybe his ceiling isn't as high as others on the team, but he will be a 3X AA if he stays healthy.

This is akin to Pitt claiming 9 football championships. The NCAA credits Penn State with 6 wrestling team titles prior to this year. That is the official count.

Ummmm, no - it's because the NCAA didn't start sponsoring the "NCAA National Wrestling Tournament" until 1928 (i.e., the first year of the NCAA Tournament). PSU has won 6, soon to be 7, "NCAA Tournaments". But PSU was considered the consensus National Champion in 1921 and was the only undefeated team in the nation.

IOW, the NCAA only considers PSU to have won 6 "NCAA Tournaments" because that is how many they have won, which is different than how many National Championships they have won.

Love the ESPNU interview. Billy "Beetlejuice" Baldwin is flanked by Dan Gable on one side and Gable Steveson on the other and the question gets posed to the coach about Cael Sanderson and PSU's successes. Perfect!

And the Gilman win knocks OKST out of the hunt. 2 team race now...
Feel bad for Nick S. He would be a National Champion. He beat both guys almost by major decision who are wrestling in the finals !!!! We would probably be 20 more points ahead in the team race too....

Cory Haddad keeps leaving his announcing partner speechless with his comments. It's almost a little awkward to listen to. His partner isn't any better though with his comments of "citations" and the "boundary waters"

Like I said, it's just like the Pitt's 9 "championships".

3rd/4th:
NaTo (Ohio St) over Stevan Micic (Mich), 5-2

5th/6th:
Kaid Brock (Ok. St.) over Eric Montoya (Nebraska), 5-3

7th/8th:
Zane Richards (Illni) over Scotty Parker (Lehigh), 14-4

MyMart gets a TD and then Brooks escapes. 2nd ends 5-2.

MyMart completely gassed and gets ridden out in the 3rd (does absolutely nothing and is lucky he didn't get dinged for several more stalling calls). Brooks gets RT point with almost 3 minutes of RT.....final 6-2. Another "stall-fest", only look to counter out of Martin....this guy is going to go 1 and done in terms of Championships the way he wrestles - he sucks, that would be his 11th loss this year!
He is going to finish 5 or 6. Does NOT suck. You may not like his style, but he is a 2 time AA.

I think it depends on outcome of 149 3rd place

If Sorenson wins, PSU NATIONAL CHAMPS

If Micah wins by MD or better, might have to wait until Myles vs Boyd. My math might be off.

By-the-by, here is a complete listing year-by-year of the records of all of PSU's teams since PSU started wrestling in 1908/1909 school year (PSU is one of only like 5 schools to have wrestled for more than 100 years) - HERE IS THE HOTLINK. As you can see, PSU elected not to participate in many of the NCAA Tournaments in the early years. You can also see that PSU has had teams with sterling records and high finishes at NCAAs for a long, long, long time.
