2018-19 Sixers Thread

I’ve rewatched embiids black on Allen a couple of times, and I’ve gotta say, I have no idea how they called that a flagrant foul. It was ALL BALL. Sure there was a degree of follow through and Allen played it up a bit. But there is no way that should have been a flagrant.

Also, I think the sixers are headed for a buzzsaw in Toronto. That’s just not a good matchup at all for the sixers. I’d much rather play the Celtics or bucks than Toronto. Heck I’d even rather play golden state. Toronto is probably the only team with the length to actually matchup with Phillys size advantage.
Pick your poison. No matter what, they were going to face Milwaukee, Toronto or Boston. To be the best, you have to beat the best!

Agreed

Many felt that the Nets were the worst 1st round matchup for the Sixers in the East. Perhaps that was true, though the Sixers are up 3-1 in the series.

Each step up in the playoffs should, by nature, be more difficult. The Sixers have a good deal of talent. So do the teams listed in your post. It should make for some entertaining games.

Really?
Power rankings pre-playoffs with 76er head-to-head record in parens:
2. Bucks (1-2)
3. Raptors (1-3)
6. 76ers
10. Celts (1-3)
16. Nets (2-2)

You must have missed the part that said "first round matchup". There was almost no chance the Sixers would play the Bucks, Raptors, or Celts in the first round.

Go troll somewhere else.

Blowout city so far. Brooklyn fans can go back to waxing their mustaches and getting their Penny Farthing bicycles ready for summer

Charles with the quote of the night. "If you're watching this game and the other game you have no life."

Thanks Chuck, just switched to Leafs-Bruins.

This win over a bad Nets team means nothing. They have to win against Toronto or else the coach is gone.

At least the two who picked the sixers are two people who I’ve actually heard of

Seen a couple predictions that have the Raptors in 5...if that happens Brett Brown will be showing himself to the door.
Gotta at least make it to six games. Non-competitive would be problematic.

I think Brown is gone if they lose in 5 or 6. The guy's been saying for years that he needed the talent to compete. The franchise went out and granted that request this year. There are no excuses. Either they show they can really compete with the elite NBA teams or they make more changes. The team can't simply change all the players. The coach is the big variable that can be changed.

Looks like Brett Brown’s calendar still shows February...pulling starters at 6 mins for subs while Nick Nurse keeps his starters in for more minutes. Like most coaches do when the playoffs come.

I get it that the Raptors can’t miss but...maybe keep your starters in to keep it close.

Can we at least wait until the start of game 1 before firing the head coach??

Sometimes the +/- stats in a boxscore don't tell the whole story, but this seems interesting:

Embid +4
Simmons -7
Redick -6

and...
Tobias Harris -23
Jimmy Butler -23

Keep in mind that Brett Brown kept those two on the floor every time he made his subs with putting in Boban, Furkan, and Ennis. Not sure that’s a fair stat.

Still can’t figure out why he dumped those three all in at once rather than sprinkle them in one at a time with 4 other starters.

That stat tells me Browns substitutions were horrible.

Yeah, he's all that. Two-time Defensive POY, as well.
Honestly, that was better than anything I’ve ever seen from Lebron. What kawhi did was otherworldly. I’m as much a sixers homer as anyone, and now I think they’re lucky if they can push it to six games.

He’s terrific. I love his shot, the way he takes the ball high over his head, just as I did in my heyday.

No way the Raptors shoot that bad in the second half but on the flip side...gotta hope there’s no way the sixers starters play that bad in the second half. Protecting the ball would be a big help.
