It's pretty amazing that you can have 5 finalists (almost damn near 6) and still sit in 4th place.
It is. No question. A funny anomaly of the talent accumulation of the top 5 teams. But.... If we get 5 finalists in two weeks we won’t be 4th. We will be in 1st or 2nd. The depth of the other teams will get dispersed by the other league talents.
Yep, I don't hate Iowa and they deserve some credit for the team that they have now, but it should be easier at nationals and that's not sour grapes, I think most serious fans knew that before the Big Ten tournament started. We need a bit of help and need those 5 or 6 hammers to do everything they can (need Verk to pull an upset or two as well, assuming that he has or will qualify, I'm not sure yet). It's not over, that's for sure.
Boring is boring. I appreciate his perseverance to overcome diabetes but he is like watching a 0-0 soccer match where the ball remains in midfield the whole game. He should get way more stalling calls. End of rant but 299% true. Even you would not watch 10 matches of Verk like wrestling. Better to try to win and lose than to lose without trying. PS to others. Well written. I think if Desanto does have a degree of Autism, what he has accomplished is admirable. My only problem in that case, would be when he tried to hurt an individual because of his actions. The discipline against him should have been rigid.The athlete nor his coaches should not be able to explain his actions using Autism as an excuse. His actions should dictate his discipline. As you noted your son was suspended twice in school because of his actions. There should not be a difference for a top athlete.

According to JB last night Verk is qualified, we have 7 qualified. 149 has 10 allocation spots and he is guaranteed 10th.
FloArena has him facing Thomas again this morning to make the 9th place bout. He did get a bye in the mini tourney. Is Thomas hurt again?
JB said he got a medical forfeit to guarantee his spot. I guess we will find out. JB is occasionally wrong.... but not often
The real big difference at Nationals is beyond the 1 and 2 seeds. If your planned on your 3 seed standing on the third step....don’t plan on it. That’s what has hurt Iowa and other teams since PSU arrived. We’ve had so many 1’s and 2’s consistently make the finals that the other teams had to rely upon the more uncertain seeds. We can still win in two weeks and will need Shak to be his best. And Verk needs to rise above.
Yaya Thomas won 6-2 last night and walked off the mat healthy.Verkleren has Yaya to make it to the 9th place match.
Well, you know, he needs to shoot more like Jason does. And those bums Matt Suhey and Mike Guman just needed to run and jump like Saquoun and they would've scored against Bama ;-) ;-). (although to this day, if there was replay, Suhey scored). We could all be Jason or Saquon if we just had a little more heart.
And if Cassar was healthy we'd have a legit shot at 6 wrestling Saturday night in Minnesota! We've been so spoiled and still are. I am gonna enjoy the ride today and in 2 weeks.

I honestly don’t know why Cael let Verk walk on to the team when he could’ve just recruited the next Zain. I mean, what was he thinking?
Aaron put on some serious muscle since that match against Venz. Remember that, gee whiz Aaron looked so small and tiny for 184. I read that on here, but boy has he gotten bigger and stronger. Probably some of those DT growth thingies.
Here at Rutgers, word is that Verkleeren vs Thomas winner and Rooks vs Jodeh winner will wrestle for 9th. Losers of those bouts go into the at-large pool (Bronze Standard), and must wait.
Better to keep your mouth shut and let people guess you're a moron, then to open it and prove them right.
