And your faith in God has been restored!

It's pretty clear God is assembling the strongest team he needs at PSU for the coming apocalypse.

Surely I jest.

Or do I?

I look like an idiot, you look very smart.

I am not exaggerating when I heard Nagao was a no and coaches planned to focus on Cannon.
Hey we have to give credit where credit is due. Clearly one program offered him a lot of compensation and PSU not so much. Cael wants kids who want to be here for the right reasons.

I suspect in the immediate aftermath of having a big offer thrust in front of him he started to lean that direction. It's very hard to resist especially at 20ish years old.

Maybe our guys sensed he was leaning. I do feel bad for Cannon who had to have been on edge hanging in the lurch, for the past week. I will make it a point to root for him, my first showing of any Rutgers support.

Aaron, took his time, and through prayer and reflection made the 'wise' choice, that was probably harder than the easy choice 'of this world'. Impressive young man.

It's sad what Covid did to Spencer. If they hold the 2020 tournament, Spencer is an overwhelming favorite and Iowa was the favorite to win the team title. Then 2021 would be his swan song in NCAA wrestling, and he wins with no ACLs while leading Iowa to it's second straight title and goes out of college wrestling a 4-time champ and conquering hero with the famous last words "excuses are for wusses" as he leaves his shoes on the mat, and people are debating whether he really is the GOAT or not (I still don't see any reason Cael wouldn't be, but at least there is a reasonable conversation about it).

Of course, that's not what happened. 2020 was canceled. 21 was title three on no ACLs, but he rushes back for the 22 season without surgery to make one last run with KemDog, The Bull, and The Riddler, and can't go, so he gets the surgery very late in the game and tries to come back from double ACL reconstruction in 9 months and is never really 100%, and spends his last moments in college wrestling counting rafters while missing out on his 4th instead of delivering his "excuses" line after triumphantly winning his 4th.
A close second in best things about next season (with first obviously being watching the good guys win another title) is there will be no more reason to discuss Spencer Lee in every other thread.

I Wayde every day. I know PSU would have won 2020. Vincenzo said so in some interview.🙂
I remember that! He had them with five champs. I’m saying they’d win even with four. The brackets were not kind to Iowa that year. And it wasn’t going to take a ton of points to win that year.

AD Pat Kraft deserves a hat tip as well.

This recent wave of transfers -plus- elite recruits.

I'm not sure whatever the hell Sandy was screwing up btw/ the "Evan Wick botched transfer" and being slow on the NIL gas pedal vs some Ohio St recruits.

But, whatever obstacles Sandy left in Cael's path, it appears that Pat Kraft has rolled up his sleeves and demolished those obstacles.

One response:

“It was always gonna be an uphill battle to catch Penn st. The transfer portal all but ended any chance of catching them on an “off” year or “rebuilding” year.
Team titles will be wrapped by Friday night going forward. Only reason to watch is to see if a hawk wins in the finals or to see if any of the 5 Penn st finalists will lose.
Portal is trash
NIL how it is is trash
This is the death of parity
The spirit of college competition is dead
Every other school is a farm league for Penn st.
Iowa may get some crumbs but how it’s set up currently, sorry to say, it’s over”
Once it was decided that Cael and Penn State wrestling were to be joined, parity was on it's way out the window.

Penn State is king, long live the king.

This is good for Iowa. They have generally been only good enough to finish somewhere below the second place team. Yet they would believe they are right there with PSU. Hell they got beat by 55 and still think they have a shot next year. This maybe drives it home so they can plan accordingly for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th place trophy presentation and understand their team accomplished something good.

If it makes the PSU wrestling fandom feel great it shall be deemed "GOOD". If it brings Hawk wrestling fandom anguish it is forever more proclaimed "EVEN BETTER!"

This is GOOD and EVEN BETTER!
