2022-23 Transfer Portal Thread

I just don't think he will. He's 5'10 not great nfl speed, only 600 yards receiving and is coming off of injury. There are 133 division 1 WRs that out produced him this year.

I love him as a PSU player and definitely has great hands but I'm being realistic. The above all goes against him.
It does. I can agree there. I think his big game against Ohio state will mean something if he can just test ok. He runs in the 4’s so it isn’t like he has my speed.

UNC did not have a good defense this season. Giving up a ton of points and yardage.

Yet somehow this 5 star defensive back Grimes lost his starting position. So not sure if he is a big prize.
Fair point. They don't wear their HS star rating on their uniforms. Under-rated players that start at a lower level but outperform, those guys are often a good portal risk

Thoughts?

Franklin and his staff reportedly recruited Prather hard a couple years agao and Prather was at PSU many times. If Frankin and Stubblefield were high on Prather when he was coming out of H.S. and PSU was Prather's 2nd choice as most believe, given Prather's production together with his size it would seem that Prather would now be at the top of PSU's portal WR board. But only the shaddow knows for sure!!

Thoughts?

A lot of players our staff recruited out of HS are in the portal. Some players we didn't recruit that are now high level players are in the portal, have interest and have/will visit.

Right now, it seems to be a matter of finding proven production and favorable measurements for what the offense lacks. I would not be shocked if we see a lot of 4 and 5 WR sets with Allar at QB. The TE-centric offense developed more over the year. With Washington and Tinsley, we just didn't seem to have 4-5 WRs we trusted consistently (or was it Clifford?).

2 seems 100%, 3 if the right people wish to come on board and come available. I don't know where Prather fits myself. He seems like an "or" prospect with Thornton personally, but the staff could love both.

Lol didn’t see it when you posted? You started the other thread lmao
I didn't see it near the top when I posted. Also, I didn't start the transfers thread. I started a thread that was maybe the first about a specific transfer player and the mods used it to combine the other threads into the transfer thread.

Interesting given Smith's ties to Gateway, my H.S. as well. But my guess is that Franklin will not use a portal scholarship on a transfer Safety. Current roster with Reed, Wheatley, Winston, Flowers and possibly Ellis at Safety plus the 2023 class Safety's make the position about the least likely for an incoming transfer.

WR, WR, WR, WR, WR, WR.............

What do you think Nick Saban or Kirby Smart would tell an injured receiver thinking if leaving early for the 4th round?

You're welcome..
How do you know Franklin told PW to leave? Maybe he advised him to stay and PW opted to leave anyway. Players have brains and can make their own decisions too.

I don't actually. I believe Franklin may have advised him to stay. These guys have a lot of outside people advising them and I don't know who they are, but some of our guys are getting bad advice.

Some of those numbers are downright damning indictments of the programs. We didn't lose that many guys in the post-Sandusky scandal. What a joke in terms of culture.
These are football factories that play big time ball. Hopefully everyone knows what they are signing up for when they commit. The strongest survive and others are pushed aside for new talent. Props to UGA for only having one.

It will be interesting to see if there is a late exodus from UGA after the playoff, as at least some of their low number is likely due to wanting to be a part of a "championship" team.

But if you remember, the first year of the portal PSU lost a big number of players. But if I remember correctly not one went on to top a program. i.e. they all traded down to get playing time as they were marginal talents that Franklin took coming out of the sanctions.

Wonder if the TAM number is a result of taking the money that inticed them to go there and then leaving for playing time, or leaving for a better culture, or ???

I wasn’t thinking, there will certainly be some movement after the playoffs.

Georgia will empty out, too, after the playoffs.
