Perry actually won by TF over Peach on the consolation side. He lost to Jesuroga 4-1 in the QF.

Jim Mullen might be the best HW in HS and is only a freshman. Definitely a kid to keep an eye on if he goes wrestling over football.

Is Bassett wrestling in the under 15 or cadets?

Anywhere to see results besides behind Flo’s nonsense paywall?
Feel for him. He was in on a shot and converted into a tripod position and the kid just reached back and hit him with a chin whip, stepped over, and pinned him. He's wrestled back and has a rematch this round. I'm really high on him as a recruit.

Consis:
- 51 kg: McGowan vs. Perry for 3rd
- 55 kg: GIbson vs. Cael Hughes for 3rd
- 60 kg: Kasak lost 5-3 in R12 to Gilcher (Michigan), who reached the 3rd place match
- 65 kg: Swisher vs. Voinovich for 5th
- 65 kg: Manville vs. Moore (Illinois) for 7th
- 71 kg: Grant Mackay (AA state champ, Laurel) will wrestle for 7th
- 80 kg: Gabe Arnold lost 3-1 to the same kid who pinned him earlier. Will wrestle for 7th.

Haines lost his 2nd match 6-6 on criteria, will have a 3rd match for the team spot.

Mullen 9-7 in his 2nd match, qualifies for the world team.

Might also have to keep an eye on 92 kg Gavin Nelson from Simley MN (Kerk's home town). He twice beat NJ state champ/Lehigh commit PJ Casale 10-0 to make the world team.

Lol at Iowa youth wrestling fans in that thread crowing about a very limited subset - like IL fans hanging their hopes on Fargo results turning the state into a powerhouse.

Then it comes to folkstyle and reality sets in
Or it comes to the Cadet WTT Finals and reality sets in.

Any word on colleges that Levi is looking at? SIAP
Haines has not announced a school list ... but Willie says:

Didn’t know Bassett was a 14 year old 7th grader. I mean he’d be a stud if he was a normal freshman but that’s crazy.

That is not a very accurate assessment of the people in Illinois. We look at the Fargo accomplishments and can't figure out why we don't have better success in Folkstyle. We are very proud of our Fargo results - that is for sure, but we do not feel we are the power house that PA or NJ or Ohio is in folk style.

That being said, we still are a decent wrestling state. Now, I am going to admit that there are always newbies who think that every year's Fargo results will be the group that put Illinois on top, but most of us are pretty disappointed with our NCAA D1 results.

That's interesting because it would make him ineligible for his SR year. PIAA has an age limit, done at age 19 unless born on or after July 1. So he'd have to either go prep school or NLWC.

EDIT: Disregard -- I screwed up the math on this. He'll be eligible.
