But Cenzo wasn't eligible in 2021? So what does that change about 2020?

Its so weird that you guys have had the ultimate success rate since 2011 but can't just simply admit that you were absolutely not favored in 2020 despite all of the evidence to the contrary
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if 2020 happened, then Eireman, Kemerer, and Marinelli wouldn’t have been there for 2021, because there would not have been a Covid year, right?

So Iowa gets credit for 1 of the years but clearly not both.

2020 affected eligibility. VJ and Hall only got to wrestle in three NCAA tournaments b/c 2020 counted.

This is exactly correct. COVID was great for Iowa fans. Now, they can talk about the one they won and the one they "would have won". The fact is, without COVID, they don't win the following year.

Eierman transferred in at the beginning of the 2020 season with 1 season left, but was taking an OLY RS from the get go. For both Kem and Bull, 2020 was their 3rd season, so they would have gotten 1 more.

If I really wanted to go there, I’d say Iowa’s one recent title has an asterisk to it. It was an abbreviated season with abnormally shortened ranking /seed qualifications, the inability to develop freshman and a tournament that was watered down, missing Cornell and the rest of the Ivy League

But I won’t go there.

It is asterisked, just like Spencer's 2 participation Hodge Trophies.

Kemerer's knee injury ended up working for them (not saying it's a good thing, you never want to see anyone hurt but lineup wise). He was supposed to be one of the seniors who didn't get their last NCAAs in 2020 (Mark/Cenzo) He got a med year and got 21, 22. Without Kem's points in 2021 (19), they lose by 3.5.

Now obviously they throw Kennedy in that spot and it remains TBD how much he scores.

Here's another doozy, IMO if Cassar and Berge didn't get hurt and Shak looked like himself, I think Brands pulls Eierman out of desperation in 2020 (like Kolodzik) also then effectively, he is done also for 21, 22.

I’m not giving you or any other Iowa fan heck for believing Iowa would have won. (Although I draw the line at claiming victory.). So I’m not sure why you can’t just disagree. I think I’ve put forth some reasonable arguments for my position, even if you disagree with them.

And yes - when I project it, I give a higher chance of winning it all to guys that did so multiple times vs guys that never came close, even if they were looking good that one year.
FREE advise- do NOT gamble!!! You clearly do not understand how using certain factors to predict outcomes work! For example, I flip a coin and it comes up heads 5Xs in a row. What are the odds it will come up heads again?

PLEASE no coaching from our studio audience!!!!

You somehow believe that Distant past results, out weigh the WEEK before results! You are NOT taking into account how healthy IOWA was as opposed to other years. You also want to say Lugos best finish was 8th so..... He was one seed and wrestling at his all-time best.

Love it!!! Have you ever hear the legendary story about the spartans and "IF"?

Spartan Quotes For Life

Philip had achieved a crushing victory, and Sparta was relatively weak and without walls. Philip sent a message to the Spartans saying “If I invade Lakonia you will be destroyed, never to rise again.” The Spartans replied with one word, “If.”Jul 18, 2

YO, WTF why didn't any of my peeps tell me the video in first post was not there? NOTE: sorry if it is there and I am the only one who it is not playing for?

Other NOTE: You have to watch this to continue posting here. Sorry NCAA rule and all, kinda like college wrestlers betting on a girls basketball game!

Lecturing people on "if" less than 24 hours after claiming a national title that never actually occurred.

Incredible.

Did you ever hear the legendary story about bullfrog and "if"?
If a bullfrog had wings it wouldn't hit its a$$ so much when it lands.
Or the one about your aunt...?

TY, but I never said IF. I clearly said IOWA would have won and did win the biggest tournament the week before! Returning National Team Champions, who were better. Going by seeds, it was going to be a blood bath!!!

I think you are thinking about the eeww-EEWW Bird? Very rare bird that has very short legs and BIG balls! The reason they call it the eeww-EEWW bird is because when he comes in for a landing he goes eww EEWW EEWW

Go ahead, you can say it...if covid cancellations hadn't happened.

Iowa got screwed in 2020 and you know it. You guys really go out of your way to discredit a really good Iowa team that year.
Iowa did have a good team that year. It may have been good enough to win the championship. But we will never know. Things happen, things may have happened to Iowa that would changed your expected outcome (injuries, upsets, etc.) Again, we will never know.

That may have been the year that all Iowa's wrestlers matched or bettered their seeds. Again, we will never know.

Stating that Iowa did not win that year is just a fact and does not discredit them anymore than any other team that had a chance. They did win the B1G, although that does not always translate to winning NCAAs. It's okay, your got your 1 championships in a decade allotment the next year.

Reminder that the 2020 discussion began when an Iowa fan, unprompted and out of nowhere, posted that he was claiming the 2020 natty for Iowa.

I might be missing something, but everyone that wrestled in 2020 had it count against their eligibility. Again - it’s why Joseph and Hall only got to wrestle in three NCAA tournaments.

Seniors only, in effect. Everyone who was eligible in 2020, but didn’t exhaust their eligibility, got a 5th year if they chose.

You cant just make assumptions to make yourself feel better..well, I guess you can but it doesnt change things. EVERYONE (except maybe me) had Iowa winning it all entering the 2022 seasin. How'd that work out? EVERYONE had Spencer winning his 4th last season...well..everyone but me but how'd that work out for the Hawks and Mrs. Lee's glasses? :)

If you're inserting someone out of eligibility then I'm gonna insert Lugo, who was projected 2nd at worst. So Iowa still wins in that scenario.

Look, I've said multiple times that NCAAs would have been closer than B1Gs that year, and that I will not claim that title for Iowa since it never actually happened, but can any of you admit that Iowa was the very likely winner that year had it not been cancelled, and any win by PSU would have been a massive upset?
Iowa was definitely favored, but this discussion was initiated because, unlike you, your village idiot was actually claiming the 2020 title for Iowa. While Iowa was the favorite, there was enough of a path for Penn State, given the recent histories of the programs at the NCAAs, that McPat's argument at least nullifies any explicit claim to the title for Iowa.

You're wrong about this. 2021 was the free year, not 2020, so if 2020 happened and 2021 wasn't a free year, then we wouldn't have gotten to see Eireman, Kemerer, Marinelli, and DeSanto all flame out one more time in 2022. That's the difference.

Of course, the undisputed all-time biggest loser of the 2020 cancellation and 2021 free year is Spencer. If there is no pandemic at all, Spencer wins in 2020, then wins his 4th in 2021, and his final act as a collegiate wrestler would have been the "excuses are for wusses" interview, which would have been after his fourth title, not his third, and then he would have left his shoes on the mat and turned to the Olympics. Instead, 2020 never happened, he won his third with no ACLs in 2021, but instead of getting the surgery he desperately needed, he tried to gut it out to extend the dynasty by a year, couldn't go in 2022 and got the surgery a year too late, and then of course 2023 ended not with a 4th title, but with him counting lights as his mother smashed her glasses.

EDIT: It all may have cost him at least one shot at the Olympics as well, if the trials had gone on as planned in 2020, Spencer would have had at least one ACL and would have been the favorite. By the time the postponed Olympic trials happened, he was too injured to compete. At least he still has a chance to rectify that one.

This is much different. Beginning of year VS. after blowing out B1Gs and pretty much having everyone healthy and many top seeds! Also every one following SL knew what he was battling. those who try and discredit what he did are idiots! You will never see it again!!!!

Love to match wits with you but we ALL know how that would go!!!! IF it makes you feel better thinking you had a shot, by all means carry on. I wonder if that also applies to this year? Some one already posted on some page on FB that IOWA is taking you all to the wood shed!?!?!?
