Iowa @ Ohio State PBP, Results and Discussion Thread

I can’t do my pseudo pbp last 2 bouts if anyone else wants to keep the gang inform d

Moore converted a fireman's carry, Wilcke escaped, 2-1.
Wilckie from bottom, E1 to start second, tied 2-2.
Moore hits a double then lets Cash up, 4-3.
Wilckie gets in on a leg but Moore stuffs it. Period ends, 4-3 Moore.
Moore chooses neutral to start third.
Both guys gassing a bit now. :49 left.
Moore gets the best of a sloppy exchange for the TD, 6-3, and that's how it ends.

this pletcher match could foretell problems at nationals for the yuks....w a minute left he needs a TD for a major and doesnt even force the action in an attempt to get it....bonus will be huge in march

Typical tOSU for a guy to come out to Zain's song and then fail utterly to live up to the attitude embodied in that awesome song.

17 - 12 OSU going to heavyweight.
The question people across the land want answered. Does Iowa still have a realistic shot?

Tim Johnson: "The greatest wrestler in the world coming up.... to wrestle Sam Stoll"

Zain Retherford is about to wrestle heavyweight? Bold move, Zainiac.

I think Stoll might be just too big to turn, but I'll take Zain by a solid 6-0 win

Well, it would have been 17-14 if Kemerer hadn't quit and Marinelli had wrestled better on bottom and gone for more takedowns. And Myles Martin was actually very, very close to getting pinned.

Lee's upset turned the odds around. Iowa was closer than I thought.

With the match effectively but not technically out of reach, no Sam Stoll. Instead Steven Holloway is fed to Snyder.

Meh. Tomasello sure didn't look better conditioned against Cory Clark last year.
Did anybody look better conditioned than Clark last year. I believe Clark won a couple matches in the third on his March in March. Hell he had enough juice left over to excitedly toss his coach while celebrating.;)

I despise not sending out your best wrestler. But, in this case, it makes sense for Iowa not to wrestle Snyder here. I just think Iowa wants to keep his knees safe until post-season.

I love Dan Gable as much as any red-blooded American should, but he also did something similar. In the 1997 season at the BJC, he gave up a forfeit rather than let Kerry McCoy, PSU's best wrestler, tear up his heavyweight.

And of course VT fans were really mad when Cael forfeited rather than send out Jan Johnson to be sacrificed to that heavyweight the Hokies had then

Since he came closest to getting the pin, albeit in a losing effort, I award the Pin Chain to Mitch Bowman.
Mitch Bowman spiritually won that match, especially since Martin should have only had 4 NF points (not 8) in the first period

Hats off to IOWA...wrestled hard and all 7 mins. I was especially impressed with Bowman and Young matches as they were outgunned but not outgutted. Wilke was really close. Conditioning favored Hawks in my opinion.
