Iowa @ Ohio State PBP, Results and Discussion Thread

Every decision Cael makes is correct and every decision Brands and Ryan makes is wrong. Can that end the discussion of sitting wrestlers?

Wrestling has very little chance to "grow the sport", if there is no disincentive for coaches to pull wrestlers in big-time matches to protect knees, protect seeds, or protect egos.

Horseshyt!

Hats off to Ohio State. Great dual! I thought all 10 of Iowa's wrestler's gave it everything they had. No shame in that loss.

I agree with what I was able to see. Trying to watch and do too many things.

MyMar faided in the 3rd, Pletch didnt get the major, Moore looks like he is beatable and on and on. I feel pretty good about our chances in the dual when you see that and know it surely will be a long bus ride from c-bus to SC.

I do not who it is, but I understand Penn State searched high and low, overturned every rock possible, stopped in as many sports bars as possible looking for the most average official possible to ref the OSU PSU match.

I love Dan Gable as much as any red-blooded American should, but he also did something similar. In the 1997 season at the BJC, he gave up a forfeit rather than let Kerry McCoy, PSU's best wrestler, tear up his heavyweight.

And of course VT fans were really mad when Cael forfeited rather than send out Jan Johnson to be sacrificed to that heavyweight the Hokies had then
Gable was not in the BJC that night. Zalesky did not send a heavyweight out to wrestle Kerry, and to make it better waved hello with his one finger.

Not sending Jan Johnson out to wrestle Waltz when Penn State had the match won is not exactly the same thing as not sending the number 3 ranked heavyweight out to wrestle when even better than realistically, but in actuality the match was still there to be won.

I'm going to take the unpopular position that sitting Stoll was the right thing to do. If you're being honest with yourself, you do not feel robbed of a Stoll Snyder match because said match posed no intrigue whatsoever, except for the question of whether Stoll's knee would survive against an opponent who is guaranteed to hit and convert no fewer than eight low singles.

Well we didn't get bitch slaped just to many horses against us..Proud of my Hawks wrestled well to day.
Just had no chance against Martin and Mr. Gold.
We just might help you boys at NCAA'S.
Was a good effort. Bowman showed some grit. Wilke is fine. I don't see 84/97 as problem weights for you guys (not sure it's worth the shitshow of PDIII).
Spencer's going to be a really tough out in March (but we kinda knew that).

Well put, plus we don't know the extent of his injuries.

Nope. In all reality Stoll had nothing but a puncher's chance, but he has been wrestling with an attitude that I like. I really wanted to see the big guy wrestling with attitude take his swing.

Wait a minute. Aren't you guys saying all that matters is March? I thought I heard that somewhere.

I'm all for ball breaking. But if you're going to break balls. Do it directly to me for something I said. Don't mock
Again impressed with the heart I see from Bowman. Was getting owned but fought back. Congratulations to Spencer please score a hat trick. Snorenson was well... Wilcke was underwhelming... fOSU won but seeing more and Moore chinks in their armor.

I do believe Iowa has a new Ramos/Evans/Gilman: Marinelli. Kid acts like a d$&k almost every match. Not when Imar is nearly teching him, but almost every match.

How in the heck does Bo make weight? He looks like a 184 or even 197. Still amazes me. NATO and Pletcher seem good at their weights. Was impressed with MyMar until the third. Snyder is a beast but Hollaway was raw meat for him. Lee was awesome. Rode NATO like a horse in P2. Iowa fought hard but just don’t have the horses after 165.

Match is being replayed, 2:00am, tomorrow...or in about 5 and a half hours from now (it’s about 8:30pm), for anyone that wants to tape it.

Could someone please give some more pbp or detail to Lee's 3-2 decision.
Thanks.
First period pretty much had NATO as the only one looking to get to his offense. He was in on Lee’s legs several times. Did get a TD and then an escape by Lee. Second period had Lee riding NATO like a free piece of ass. Rode him out the entire period. Lee escape in the third. Several shots by NATO, getting to his legs but great defense by Lee to hold on for 3-2 win with riding time.

So, just so I have it straight, it's not "worth the risk" for the #3 HWT to wrestle the #1 HWT because, although he is obviously healthy, there is a higher percentage chance that he might re-injure his knee?

Do I have that correct?
