So hypothetically, if Someone (not saying he was gambling) like Cass is suspended for a year gambling but he took his olympic red shirt that year before being suspended, Would it preserve his last year eligibility? Slightly different circumstances.
Listening to Willie’s first word from Friday makes it seem like at least Woods and Cass may be involved. He was focusing on guys who may be able to take an ORS and whether that’s a workaround (it is not). They would be the guys on the current team who could even sniff an ORS I would think. Why even bring up the ORS hypothetical if they were room guys, low level starters

Let’s cool it on the speculation and just deal with both maybe wanting to take a year and focus on freestyle. Many do it. If they got it, use it. Heck, Gable still has a year left…

Agree on the speculation.

Does Gable have a year left? I believe once you start wrestling, if you don’t use the year, you lose it unless you have a RS available. This may be a factor for AJ if he doesn’t start wrestling this coming year.

Gable had his redshirt available

Well, what is Real supposed to spend all that slumlord money on...in Iowa? You can only take so many trips to the Field of Dreams place.

AJ I believe has 3 years and an ORS left.
2021 - COVID Year
2022 - Counts since he wrestled in January
2023 - Redshirt year

Since he's an age world medalist and NCAA champ, he can take an Olympic redshirt year next year so all in all, even if he can't wrestle next year due to the trial, if he's cleared and admitted (long shot), he has plenty of time to wrestle with his brothers.

In theory, he could wrestle 3 years with his brothers if everything goes perfectly. Now between his statement of wanting to go MMA ASAP (he's turning 22 this year and probably wants a head start) and the likelihood the Ferraris last that long in Iowa, I'm going to say he's never wrestling in college again, mainly because I don't think he will be admitted to Iowa and Anthony might be a long shot as well.

Willie already said "significant names" which leads everyone to think a heavy returning point scorer (Woods, Cassioppi, Nelson) but it could also just mean a regular starter who could score points at NCAAs or losing them would cost the CyHawk dual or something

Yeah I am a bit surprised Willie didn't qualify the mention of Woods, Carr and Cassi as pure speculation just to discuss the ORS wrinkle. He may/should clarify this in the next few days.

I doubt the Iowa or Iowa St staffs would have released this info to anyone, even insiders. Likewise if anyone in the know has told Willie something, his history with respecting sensitive info is pretty solid.

I'll give Willie the benefit of the doubt and in his next show he either clarifies he has no reliable info on specific names and was using those three simply to explore the ORS angle, or that he has heard from multiple sources that these three might be focal points of the investigation. I suspect at this time it's the former.

Imagine taking an ORS not to, you know, train for the Olympics or something, but rather because you have a pending trial for felony sexual assault and can't get admitted into a college program because of it. That would probably lead to a major reconsideration of the availability of ORS's.

Don't you have to be enrolled in school in order to take a red shirt year?

It's gotta be Ferrari, right?

I saw that Iowa has 49 returning points. Minus these two it’s got to be around 25.

Including Ayala's 2022 tournament, Iowa returns 48.5 pts, which would be 4th, clearly behind Missouri, and very close to NC State, VT, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio State.

Woods + Cass = 33.5 pts. Removing them puts Iowa just outside the top 20, tied with Oregon State.

The latest on Iowa's big recruit:

Apparently, Anthony Ferrari posted a video of his privates covered up by an emoji and turned around and showed his behind and made an inappropriate comment. Apparently, the video showed his face. It is now deleted.

At the very least, he is a constant source of entertainment.

Saw the deleted post and wish I hadn’t. Anthony has a very distinguishable tattoo on his chest so it’s definitely him.

That was actually Anthony's video application to Iowa admissions office that was leaked. Certainly he'll get accepted now, as he was doing NIL work for the "InnerCircle" and GIA. Perfect fit.

I really hope that Iowa admissions doesn't bungle this, and all three Ferrari's get accepted, and the whole family moves to IC. The theatrical benefit will be off the charts and gives me additional reading material on the crapper.

Iowa really not having a good off season this year, and it doesn't sound the other shoe has dropped yet

What did @WexfordWarrior do to you?

The "his account was hacked" defense is priceless. Um, even if true, how does that explain the existence of the video? Was that deepfaked?

If the video was something "leaked" why would there be censoring? Don't think hackers/leakers care about "decency" He clearly meant to post on his Instagram for attention before realizing (maybe after a teammate told him) it was a very bad idea.

This takes NIL to a new level.
