I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! Remember what Decoration Day is really about (it's not grilling steaks and getting plastered):)

-You may not give a fun, but not so WildTurk Baby#2 is on the way! Final piece to our family puzzle. Arrival Dec 25th! When we were 24 the Wife originally wanted 4-5 kids. At almost 40 we think 2 is a nice round # to stop at. Wish us luck

Cheers!

I saw Jason Isbell in concert a few times now over the years. Highly recommend!

Drive by Truckers, William Elliott Whitmore, Lucero, Devil Makes Three, Old Crow Medicine Show, Whiskey Myers, Shakey Graves, The SteelDrivers...

..my kind of music. Thank me later if you don't know them yet!

I see we have a man of culture here.

Saw John Prine (RIP) and Old Crow Medicine Show on the second date with my girlfriend, now wife, back in 2012.

I've heard soem of this described as red dirt country or Texas country. Also Americana music. Kind of like folk, blues, country rock, southern rock all mixed up according to regional influences. And stuff.
So it is not a fusion of jazz and funk? Which some people call junk. ;)

I call some of it modern Blue Grass: Yoder Mountain, GreenskyBluegrass, Bill strings, Trampled by Turtles.... They jam pretty good but wouldn't put them in the genre of Phish or The String Chees Incident (SCI)

IMO Cruz > Ayala, time will tell. Good pickup for them for sure. So much for the Brands not recruiting over current kids on the roster, at least that is what GIA always bitches about with a finger pointed at us. Maybe one or the other goes 133, over to of their kids there. I called this a while ago BTW, at least the part where Drake will not last. I could see him portaling next year, he has experienced friction in Iowa city for a while.

Posters on the Iowa board seem much more realistic about Cruz. He was 0-2 against D1 wrestlers as a true freshman (Neither loss was to a starter). Ayala was an NQ with wins and close losses against top guys as a true freshman. Ayala was #5 on the Big Board coming out of high school. Cruz (#33 in 2022) was in roughly the same area on the Big Board as Gary Steen (#29 in 2021). Cruz is lightweight depth, which is never a bad thing to have, but if this is your best case for a “Tom Brands recruits over wrestlers” argument, you don’t have much of a case
