Arizona State is nowhere near deep enough to win the national title next year.
how did he look today....I wasnt able to watch any wrestling and just now looking at the brackets. TIA
thought he looked pretty good finishing 3rd avenging his loss over Teasdale and then beating Assad handily for true 3rd. the matches are all up on flo btw

This pic is a real bummer.... notice how Nolf isn't smiling as much as the other guys, he's obviously transferring to Rutgers.... and Cenzo to Duke! All is not well in Happy Valley...Same look, same carnage.
Thanks man, no smartass radar going off. I know I'm not welcome here most of the time being an Iowa homer but I love wrestling and am a huge stats guy. I appreciate hearing your opinions over here and perspective on the sport.
Are there any other trails to make the team ? Or did this weekend set it ? Don't know a lot about freestyle. But i will tell you all that Nolf will be beating Hall in the room and Bo will kill that guy in folk....Mark is really good in freestyle but i think Jason beats him pretty good in folk. This is Jason's second year in freestyle. With Bo style of gramby's etc he will have no problems with that guy....Same with Jason....Hall and others already on the team are only going to get better....I don't care who Arizona State has....You all saw a tweet today that has everything to do with Coaching...We will crush them for many different reasons....So is the Jr team set now ?

Bo does a lot of funky stuff in folk that exposes himself and he scores a lot of points of his different but very fun to watch style...You will see....I am not sure if you ever come to any practices but you would understand better if you did....Heck you should understand by watching him at Rec Hall or anywhere else in folk..Valencia is no concern to me at all with Bo in Folk style. Plus even in freestyle Bo had already wrestled 4 matches and still only lost by 1 on a hurt ankle...Bet he beats him straight up or even tech's him...Guys who have wrestled before understand exactly what i mean....

I grant you that FS and folkstyle are majorly different. Hall is better than Jason in FS, but I think that Jason would win in folkstyle (but close). BUT, even if Bo might well beat Z Valencia in folkstyle, Zahid IS the real deal whether in folkstyle or FS. That will be a very close match in folkstyle if Zahid comes down to 174 as most think. Bo needs to get a more go-to TD in the close matches. Bo reminds me a good bit of Q--both like the throws. But, Q had a very solid go-to single or blast-double when he needed it. Bo has some good leg attacks as well, but he needs a really solid go-to move when his throws don't work. His ankle-pick is anticipated by the top guys. He does have a variety of shots, but nothing I would call a real go-to shot yet.
So dunke is the Jr. team set or does guys like Nolf and Bo still have a shoot at making the team ? Guess i am not being clear....

All great points, but you really believe Nolf would beat Hall in Folk? I understand the differences, but I saw a talent gap today that translates across styles IMO
In folk..Yes for sure ! Right now in freestyle i will take Hall...I will let you know for sure cause i will see them in practice. But i did see several times when Nolf could have gone to multiple moves in folk that he loves but couldn't cause he would have given up points instead of getting or even pinning Mark.....Just super glad both are on our team....lol

Nickal had his chance to overcome this advantage by winning the open at the weight. Valencia showed up and won the open at the weight so that he could sit. At the senior level when going off last year's results to get the bye to the finals I understand the gripes but for this event they all had the opportunity to sit in the finals. You get what you earn.
I think size and Valencia's Hall like ability to not be taken down were bigger factors in the matches than any injuries or the bye to finals format. I got to meet Nickal's dad for the 1st time today. Seems like a solid dude.
Encouraging that Nolf weighed in 2 lbs under as it suggests that he's not in immediate danger of outgrowing 157 as some have speculated/worried. His looked bigger through his back and a bit more cut, so I was wondering where he weighed in. It also suggests that he was perhaps giving up significant actual weight to his opponents all day.
Loss to Hall notwithstanding I thought this was as good as he's looked in FS at any point. That ankle pick into a leg lace on Smith was nasty, twice even, and the comeback against Massa was gutsy and memorable.
