NCAA Session 6 Thread

Ran away for the final minute then hit a throw by. Then ran some more.

It's not over yet, but for now it will be because that guy isn't making 157 any more after this.

Ok- I'm nowhere near a wrestling expert so I tend to float on the PSU/ Iowa/ okie st boards just to see what people are saying and try and learn something. That said, good God are Iowa fans poor losers. They are bitching about stalling by PSU as why they win and how wrong it is. Then they've devolved into Sandusky comments and claims that Penn State wrestlers are all steroids/ PEDs. I get being upset at a poor showing but it's ridiculous how they are unraveling on that board. Maybe 1 post I saw that said good job by the opponent. I'm beginning to remember why I despise Iowa football fans so much. ;)

You nailed it with "poor losers" - the other term that comes to mind is hypocritical whiners and cry babies.

Zain might have pinned him in the first when he had the boots in, Sorenson was flattened out and Zain was working the head and half when the official called a completely bogus Stalemate bailing Sorenson out of a position that Zain has pinned a ton of guys from! Completely bull$hit, inconsistent officiating through the first 4 matches especially in regards to Iowa wrestlers in 3 of the matches. Absurd that Sorenson had ZERO Stall calls if Nico and Garret were called for 5 Stalls against Iowa wrestlers they were completely dominating the entire match!
Tthought the same on the call - very bad

I love Nolf but he releases too easily. Let's guys up and doesn't tire them at all. Didnt seem to play as much a part tonight but it cost him the big ten title.

IMar lives by power moves. That throw-by TD is a go-to power move.

He hit it. He won.

Congrats to IMar for a really strong season.

Love Nolf - This will hurt. But he will continue to get stronger.
Great career still ahead. Tough that he has to go through IMar, as he has cleaned the clocks of every other wrestler in his way.

He's so hard to beat because he rolls through every time on missed throws. Jason had him, like Miller did, but the kid monkey rolls out of it. God I detest Illinois wrestlers and Mark Perry. By the way, Perry TRIED to stop this one too, was yapping like a little dog for all 7 minutes. Hats off to Imar who won this one fair and square, but the difference between him and Jason is miniscule .

Yes, that was great match. IMar deserved that one. Nolf couldnt penetrate. So many close things. Great wrestling by both guys.

The only thing HR has to feel good about right now is Nolf losing. They wish they had one guy in the same galaxy as Nolf.

As I have said, don't go there.

Yeah. Just to be clear- I never post there. I just read and look for different opinions/ takes on these match ups to try and learn something. I guess most Iowa posters have been banned from the Penn State boards after the past few years so I started to forget how ....well......'special' they are.

Is it me or was imar setting that up all match.

I and maybe nolf tough imar would go under and hold for OT and he hits that dirty mcnasty .....hate to lose but unlike the HR I can respect good wrestling and am ok losing to it as a fan.....

Well that and cael got a ring for the thumb!!!!

I think it stems from his faith in being to take down anyone, and that his best position is his feet. Only a few guys can stay with him, and IMar is one of those few.

Only 2 loses on the year, and both to IMar, so his methodology seems to be working pretty well. He'll just have to adjust the gameplan for future battles with IMar.

I agree. But when he doesn't dominate the opponent he needs to adjust. He plays catch and release with lesser opponents and gets major decisions because of it but you need to be able to do both. It is just stupid to play that game with a guy like IMar.

Yea bro...he set Nolf up for that one. Saved it, waited, waited and hit it. I think Imar knows what he has to do to beat Nolf...hang around, tie up, half-hearted shit here and there to keep it close then go for the winning TD. I was very surprised Nolf intentionally cut him considering he hasn't taken Imar down at will...

I root against your guys *every single time* but my hat is off to Nolf. IMar was better *this evening,* but only by the slim of margins. Nolf WILL win at least two or three championships before his time is done.

Looked like Jason was about a millisecond from having IMAR flat on his back there in the second, but it wasn't quite there. Great match and a wonderful season by our freshman.

I-Mar recording the only "clean" TD in their 1st Match before gassing was what scared me about the rematches if he "slowed it down" and conserved his energy. The first re-match some of the slowdown tactics were bull$hit and should not have been permitted. But tonight was the precise match that really scared me from the first match....I-Mar slowed it down, but played "strategic offense" to conserve energy, but J-No was not able to consistently dent I-Mar's "head-hands" change of levels defense and therefore he could not successfully tire and wear I-Mar down - Jason came oh-so close on the throw, he just lost control of him as he delivered him to the mat because I-Mar is so strong....he's like a "snake" in that regard, very, very strong and hard to hold in a position (you could see it in his Gramby Rolls at end of 1st as well - that escape point with 2 seconds remaining in the 1st was huge and could have been the difference in the match had I-Mar not got them. But I-Mar wrestled a terrific strategic match offensively in neutral to conserve his energy, but initiated enough of the attacks such that he wasn't really exclusively passive either. I-Mar wrestled an excellent strategic match and his slightly better ability to execute "clean TDs" (e.g., ultra-quick finish with no scramble needed) was the difference in the match.

It's good to know how the other half lives. Let's you feel good about yourself.

I'f I know the HR, right about now they are chatting about firing TnT , yearning for gable and talking about being out recruited.

The handles change but the context is the same.

Ringer wins a ho-hum match, 6-2. Jordan is very good, but just not on Ringer's level.

Ringer gets his 3rd Championship. I think he finished 3rd as a fresh. Pretty damn impressive.
