It's tech time. Let's go Mitchell! Mesenbrink quickly in on a leg. They're on the edge & Mesenbrink is trying to lock up a cradle. He gives it up & they're back to neutral, no scoring. Mesenbrink is coming forward, faking & fainting. Mesenbrink gets to a leg. Wilson sprawls & they go out of bounds, restart. Mesenbrink shoots, but no luck. Wilson gets a stall warning. Mesenbrink drops back in on a leg. Wilson is doing the splits. Mesenbrink keeps working & shelves the leg, then trips Wilson to the mat for the TD, 3-0, 1-min left. Mesenbrink has Wilson bellied out. Wilson gets back to his base, then to his feet, but Mesenbrink jacks him up & returns him to the mat. Mesenbrink has WIlson bellied out again. Mesenbrink goes over 1-min of riding time. Mesenbrink rides out the period. 3-0 Mesenbrink, +1:08 RT

Mesenbrink takes down, gets to his feet & gets the escape, 4-0. Riding time is at 1:01. Mesenbrink with a slick & quick TD, 7-0. Mesenbrink working a tilt, but only gets a 1-count. Mesenbrink with another 1-count. Mesenbrink readjusts, but it's blown dead & the ref is saying, "It's illegal." Mitchell doesn't agree & the coaches look confused when the camera pans to the PSU corner. Wilson gets a free point as Mesenbrink concedes the escape, 7-1. Restart in neutral. Mesenbrink is coming forward like a tornado. Fakes, faints & shots. Mesenbrink drives Wilson to the edge & out of bounds. Stalling #2 on Wilson, point Mesenbrink, 8-2. Mesenbrink is immediately back in on a leg, then gets the other & finishes another TD, 11-2. Mesenbrink rides out the period & adds 3 NF before time expires, 14-2 Mesenbrink, +1:53 RT

He runs it over & adds 3 NF more for the 20-3 TECH! That's how he does it! Could Mitchell tech his way through the entire season? Has that ever been done before?

Our losses hurt but overall it was a great wrestling by both teams.
Nice match. Got some things to work on and clean up, even for some of the winners.
The team score doesn't show it but that was a fun dual. I thought Nebraska fought hard. They showed the boys a few things to work on.
Great matches all around but a few disappointments. I guess we can't win them all. Thought Davis wrestled out of control and sloppy. Beau wrestled sloppy but won on heart and persistence. Van Ness could have won that but probably will learn way more from the loss and will get him again. Great matchups up and down the line up. Can't wait for Iowa
Overall fun match to watch! Obviously we want our guys to each get a W, but sometimes the other wrestlers are somewhat decent too 😂
Good match, good banter guys. Lots to be happy about, coaches probably feel good to have a lot to work on. All in all not too bad.
I think 133 is going to be an interesting weight at big 10s and at nationals. Lot of really good kids at 133

Nebraska matches up really poorly with Iowa. They might only win 125 and 141 if Teemer is healthy.
Can't believe I am actually disappointed with a 31-7 beat down against the 6th ranked team in the nation. Good problems 😂
It's a shame though for SVN. Some were starting to give him some thought for the Hodge this year with the way he started. Will be interesting if he wrestles Lovett again at Big Tens.

The worst part of this for him is the upcoming practice time underneath Zain and Casey.
That was an aberration for Shane I am surprised, but not worried in any sense, that version of Davis doesn't beat Ayala. He is a bit sloppy, but I am sure they will focus on that slick move defense. Nebraska are skilled fighters, enjoyable match. I am bummed I didn't bump MM up to a TF for Wilson. I thought about it.
Gibbons would have struggled on that 7th grade algebra test.

Just catching up on today's post. Lovett is a tough match up for Van Ness. Lovett is a big 149.
I feel Davis will learn from his attempt to out muscle his opponent. I would be concern that Lovett is just a bad matchup for Van Ness. Kasak power and strength was able to counter Lovett last year.
Luffman has been a lot better and beat Schultz this year.
But Kueter probably beats him if he had focused on wrestling all along.
Barr's pace for a 197 pounder is going to be a big problem for almost all of his opponents. Most 197 wrestlers can't match that pace for 7+ minutes. Regarding Luke, he really does wrestle like a seasoned veteran; very little wasted motion, maintains great position, hand fights well, takes appropriate shots, mentally tough, etc.
