Nah - they are not strong at upperweights and Parco did beat Lovett last time they wrestled.
Can see them winning 3 matches, maybe 4 if Teemer is extremely rusty coming back from injury (but even that is a reach).
Good match. Someone mentioned hell week and some did appear to be getting winded in the 3rd. Not worried about any losses as they can be turned around easily. We did have some close wins that were not dominant that would be good to sure up... hate matches that can come down to a td at the end and lose...
Kasak surprised me - would have liked a committed attach in the 3rd but he looked winded. SVN will be fine next time around... got to get that feel. Davis will learn from this as well. He saw that his dble was a good shot... that was a good finish. He looked winded as well. Good match - scored over 30!

Yeah, it’s that John Broughton guy—he does good work.
I agree with a W for Iowa, though I’d give Nebbie more credit at 149 and, who knows,
maybe a puncher’s chance at 133 and 285. Kueter showed less than I expected tonight — that was a bad loss for a guy who should be climbing.
I really liked the way he was pushing for the tf when he was clearly tired.
Especially since he was probably there all
week and looking forward to graduating tonight.
I think Nebraska would be better with Minto at 165 & Wilson, Pinto & Allred all up a weight, instead of eating air. Minto looked solid when Wilson was out & Flo had him at #13 in their last rankings.

1. kudos to Nebby. Most of them came to wrestle. After watching Illinois’ effort v Iowa it was refreshing. Seemed like a good environment and great crowd.
2. Davis panicked. Got it to 9-6 w 1/2 the match left and went for a silly big move. Good learning for him.
3. SHOCKED at SVN. I expected him to tear him up, but Lovett was impressive. Second time will be different.

My take on SVN..he needed/wanted to feel Lovett on top. Take neutral next time and pick him apart on his feet. Good learning match
The losses suck but I wouldn’t in a million years put our guys’ chances any lower in March because of them. At least every guy got after it, even if a bit sloppy in spots. It sure beat the living hell out of the Iowa - Illinois dual from a meaningful action standpoint.
Nebraska made a commitment to guys dropping down a weight class. They did look bigger than the PSU wrestlers and some were stronger.
The question is how they do with 2 more months of cutting weight.
In March the 3 days of cutting and multiple matches will show up.

smith did nothing Luke should have gotten at least 2 points on stalling!
Great environment, got to give Huskers credit, they have an awesome intro for their wrestlers, Good test for PSU, PSU always pushing the pace, great matches at a number of weights!

Agreed. He needed to finish that 1st takedown and set the pace. Shayne didn't seem like he was pushing the pace tonight. He will in March.
Yep. SVN had two great chances for a TD in the first period but Lovett, to his credit, scrambled out of both. The first period ending 0-0 was a definite win for Lovett.

Davis did not manage the match well, should have recognized a takedown and ride at the end of 1st was good enough, got greedy for a tilt. Then for some reason didn't push end of 2nd.

SVN can definitely win that match. Had two good shots early. Lovett rolled out of one a countered another unsuccessfully. The offense stopped there. He got what he earned.
True, but after giving up the TD, he gave up 4NF, then got ridden out. Next time, take neutral and reduce the risk of Lovett getting a near fall.
Van Ness, needs to make a match from neutral and win it there.
Taking nothing from Kasak's win over Lovett at NCAAs last year, it was in the wrestle backs on day 3. Those results are often questionable due to the weight cutting and motivation of the wrestler.
Davis allowed Van Dee to control the tie-ups from neutral most of the match. Davis trying to get to his neutral offense all the while Van Dee either had double unders or a 2 on 1. Makes it tough. Poor match awareness from Davis all night.
Not only that but at end of period could have secured the reversal just by showing control. Pushed him away for the escape instead. May have lost track of time but that was easy point.

Anyone that was predicting a shutout needs to remove the blue and white glasses….nebby was very capable of winning any match 125-157…..we have become spoiled
