Nolf Vs. IMar

  • Everybody seems to be all wrapped up in how Martinez will adjust to prepare for his next Nolf encounter.

I have not seen very many posts considering the impact this match may have had on Jason. If Jason doesn't get the fall, at 458. It is quite probable Jason finishes the match in the 3rd by teching Martinez. It is not improbable we all watched a defining moment in Jason's wrestling, and with skill and confidence he is simply just racing ahead of everybody.

Just saying.

my initial reaction was the pin was a let down. I wanted Jason to make imar not want to ever wrestle him again. with the way the match was going the full 7 minutes would of accomplished it. I need to rewatch the match but it seemed that after beating imar (probably the biggest win in his career) he had the presence of mind to realize he didn't have the ankle bands to remove. Jason "the businessman" Nolf.

I'm not getting the notion of a possible TF. Basic math and Martinez's career give little indication that it really could have happened.

Had Martinez survived the 2nd, the score would've been 11-3 Nolf, with about 0:12 RT for Martinez. Martinez would've had choice to begin the 3rd. There were 3 takedowns so far in the match (2-1 for Nolf). Nolf had shown no signs of a top turn, and he's not a toss monster on feet. Barring another scramble with swipes, I have no idea how Nolf would've added 7 pts of margin in the 3rd.

In Martinez's career, when you exclude the obvious takedown tournaments -- 23-8 type matches -- he just didn't give up that many points. A single 18-13 match early last year. Otherwise 6 pts vs. Welch last year, 5 vs. Ness last year, 5 vs. Smith this year. That's the entire match, not one period. And those are points given up, not margin given up.

All hail to Jason, didn't think you had it and I was wrong. Looks like you and JoJo will be in the finals now! Sure happy nobody took me up on my bet (chickens).

That a boy, way to show up. BTW JoJo looks good. It's going to be a wild tourney.

It will be interesting to see if in the NWCA Duals, PSU gets OSU or NC ST. Either way, Nolf will have a great matchup that will go a long way towards seeds at Nationals. You have Nolf, IMar, JoJo, Ian Miller, and Gantt with both Miller and Gantt also remaining unbeatens. Not sure what is happening with Brascetta, but also throw him in the mix if he's still wrestling.

Brascetta wrestled in their last dual against NC so I assume he is back and healthy.

I'm hearing maybe OSU might not be going, details still working out. I'm in the last few year's Cael team about this National Duals Championship. The new format I don't like, plus don't need some wrestlers getting another look at our guys before Nationals. That is just my opinion, not John's.

Nolf = amazing. I just wish I could see what goes on in that room and also in conjunction with the club (Taylor, Brown, Tank, ect) weekly. For example, does DT play Imar last week for Nolf to prep? How does that situation work because whatever they are doing seems to provide the poise and understanding that the big match is nothing they have not seen before? Nolf seemed embarrassed that he had to talk about his win after, just so humble.

Sarcasm? If not, it seems counterintuitive to most wrestler's mentality of wanted to wrestle the best in preparation for grind of NCAA's.

Very little changes re. practice or preparing, regardless of who they wrestle. It's all about "the process", doesn't matter who's in front of them.

I think I might have missed on that one.
