I thought Yurcich was a genius? We tossed Ciarrocca away for this???There is no other team, anywhere in college football, that struggles like this on offense, can't even manage more than 1 first down in the half. this isn't struggling, this is lunacy.
Well, they can't run the ball, they break down in pass protect, their quarterback drops his head at the first sign of pressure, and the receivers are not getting open. Other than that, it correctable, right? There is no other team, anywhere in college football, that struggles like this on offense, can't even manage more than 1 first down in the half. this isn't struggling, this is lunacy.
Once again the pre-season hype is BS...a much improved OL, one of the best running back "rooms" in the country, and a wunderkind OC...and THIS is what you get????? The only hope is that Yurcich will make some sort of magical "adjustments" at the half.Tom sent me a note asking if I'd set up the official game thread while he's on vacation (hope he gets a chance to catch some of the game!).
Anyway, please use this thread for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussions about the Nittany Lions - Badgers game.
Midnighter Bar Wisconsin pop-up edition will open soon. And since I'm acting for Tom today, I'm deputizing @ILLINOISLION as the un-official game moderator.
WE ARE.
This can’t be the best QB we have. Clifford looks lost out there….not a good look for a 3rd year starter. What boggles my mind is that Franklin would stick with Clifford this off-season and not bring in a transfer. Can you not evaluate your QB ? Are you blindly loyal?
that is correct. when your offense has done nothing, and you have the ball with under 2 minutes DEEP in your territory, and Wisky has 1 TO, you grind the clock out. get to halftime 0-0. giving Wisky the ball back with 1:06 was losing FB. they were lucky Wisconsin decided not to try something. that is the type of thing that loses games. difference between being "aggressive" when you have a basis and just being stupid. shows no understanding of the kind of game we are in.time out... stupid.... clock management again...stupid. no offense...43 yrs.. ugg
Not even. To me he looks like Bolden against Alabama.
Time to wear out Cain or someone else.Right, good point. Good strategy by the coaches to keep RB's fresh rather than wearing anyone out with excessive carries.
Maybe he looks great in the red jersey at practice. What boggles my mind is that Franklin would stick with Clifford this off-season and not bring in a transfer. Can you not evaluate your QB ? Are you blindly loyal?
In the plays where you can see the receivers, there is no separation. It’s Clifford…there isn’t one play he executes well….no go to staple
Um, what kind of adjusting would you suggest?Clifford has not played great to be fair Wiscy has someone coming clean almost every play ... Oline needs adjusting big time at half
So bring guys in motion and throw it to them like they did with #3 for an 8 yd gain. Make things easy for Clifford. I think I saw one throw to the TE....we can't be this bad..Well, they can't run the ball, they break down in pass protect, their quarterback drops his head at the first sign of pressure, and the receivers are not getting open. Other than that, it correctable, right?
Where is Lovett? He is the breakaway RB. Get him on the edge.Lawnboyz
Cain 2 carries for 3 yd
Ford 1 carry for 1 yd
Lee 2 carries for 1 yd
What is Wiscy going to try, one of their three plays?that is correct. when your offense has done nothing, and you have the ball with under 2 minutes DEEP in your territory, and Wisky has 1 TO, you grind the clock out. get to halftime 0-0. giving Wisky the ball back with 1:06 was losing FB. they were lucky Wisconsin decided not to try something. that is the type of thing that loses games. difference between being "aggressive" when you have a basis and just being stupid. shows no understanding of the kind of game we are in.

The backup sure couldn't be much worse. Unless he turns it over. This can’t be the best QB we have. Clifford looks lost out there….not a good look for a 3rd year starter.
Maybe he needs more seasoning...what is he 28??This can’t be the best QB we have. Clifford looks lost out there….not a good look for a 3rd year starter.
And some of you said that OSU's offense didn't look good. How many would take that trade today? This is putridEpically bad offense.
Yep, again CJF shows he has no clue on TO management.that is correct. when your offense has done nothing, and you have the ball with under 2 minutes DEEP in your territory, and Wisky has 1 TO, you grind the clock out. get to halftime 0-0. giving Wisky the ball back with 1:06 was losing FB. they were lucky Wisconsin decided not to try something. that is the type of thing that loses games. difference between being "aggressive" when you have a basis and just being stupid. shows no understanding of the kind of game we are in.
Um see my other postUm, what kind of adjusting would you suggest?
Did we see one run to the edge?
one screen?
any attempt over middle to TE?
this looked like last year
common denominator is QB
He simply can’t improvise or move in pocket
LawndartsSounds like the mower is broke.
Clifford doesn’t know how to look off of #5, so once he’s covered, it doesn’t matter who else is open.In the plays where you can see the receivers, there is no separation.
this looks a lot like 2015 where Hack had to sit in the pocket and get killed. Hack did not run and DEF knew it. this is now feeling the impact of no Levis. we cannot let Clifford just run other than quick scramble to sideline. We have depended on QB running since 2016. now we no longer have that aspect.Did we see one run to the edge?

Any chance Brisker can play in the second half?
The OC cannot call plays that the QB and OL are incapable of running. This is what you get with limitations at the most important position on the team. It's apparent Clifford is having a difficult time reading the defense and there is zero imaginative play calling.
Maybe he has a hot looking sister!I do not think Clifford is a game quarterback but he must be a practice quarterback since he does not get replaced. It does not matter who the offensive coordinator is he is just not able to execute whatever system he is in.
