Ohio State vs Michigan

Good match. I don’t understand why he would try to ride there since Lewan had the RT advantage. Wish Cleary would have tried hitting something at the end, go for broke.

Try to ride to win. The try wasn't very effective, but neither was getting a takedown

Wentzel got the TD in the first, rode out almost entire 2nd period until Lewis took injury, then Wentzel went down and escaped. Would’ve been 3-0 Wentzel w/ Wentzel choice in 3rd. Didn’t see anything major happen to Lewis but you can’t go by that. Looked like a classic case of a guy who doesn’t lose much panicking when he was losing and got dinged up and it totally took him out of it mentally. Not saying he isn’t injured but that’s what it looked like to me.

Heinselman looked bigger/stronger & better. He will be a good test for Howard next Friday. Hopefully we see Mr Howard’s debut Sunday. Exciting to see a 125 get on mat finally.

Just my opinion, but I thought Lewis was looking for the exits. Did leave on the 3rd stoppage, something with the left shoulder.

Wentzel looked good.

Yeah, that was my take, too.

Not quite at the level of DeSanto vs RBY last year, but questionable.

That’s a really harsh assessment. There’s no doubt that Wentzel rode him hard and was dominating the match, but Lewis looked to be in a ton of pain. This was a far cry from the DeSanto-RBY incident IMO.

I suspect UM will be slightly better Sunday, 15 days with no practice is not easy to overcome, they are legit and will be top 3 in the end.

I’m guessing they wanted to get McHenry some work—and thought Heinselman was a good size to start with. With Ragusin and Micic, they are an absolute threat with 4 legit finalist contenders, and some AA candidates.

Is Micic expected to go Sunday?

Agreed, Heinselman looks improved. McHenry was really limping later on the sidelines. I can't believe McHenry goes Sunday. On paper, UM is really good.....so pumped for Sunday

He's not...somewhere around 255 and was a 220 in HS.

Last year set the team powerclean record @ 345.

Coon never hauled that up apparently and I'm pretty sure he was watching his calories to hit 285

As an aside, Medley is a freak of nature.

If you think Medley is a freak with the weights who according to the article is benching 210 as a college junior.
Last year, as a high school sophomore Notre Dame GP 126 pound state champ was bench pressing over 200 pounds.
When Howard lost to Crookham last year Howard couldn't finish moves because of Crookham strength.

Plus a bad shoulder!

Medley isn't a freak because of his bench. Newflash life is about more than 1RM bench.

Wrestling is a pulling sport more than a pushing sport.

He did 300 pushups consecutively and ran 1.5 miles in just over 8:00.

Not for nothing, great athlete, but that's not real fast

For a wrestler?

We arent none for sprint times....amount of down backs sure...but that seems pretty good to me.

The 300 pushpushs consecutively is pretty impressive except to maybe herschel Walker.

Umm ... bench doesn't matter because pull vs push, but pushups matter?

To the extent it does matter, that's a massive # pushups, but what's the benefit after the first few dozen, or even the first 100? That he doesn't know he should be bored by then?

It's obviously *fast* in a vacuum, I sure couldn't do it anymore. Just saying, if I'm providing evidence that someone is a freak athlete, that isn't something I'd use. I'd expect freak athlete wrestlers to be able to crank through better times than the equivalent pace for a 2 mile/3200 AA district qualifying time

Football and wrestling

Baseball and wrestling

Seen lots of those.

Runners and wrestling not so much and it's not because our seasons are the same.

Those seasons overlap, and there's no way a body can handle those back to back. Either way, this is a silly argument, Love watching Medley, glad our guy was better today, have a good one.

Wrestling doesn't overlap with any of them. Track in spring and cross country in fall.

Football fall and baseball in spring.

Not sure what you mean overlap.

Haha I thought you meant he did 300 push ups and ran a mile all in under 8 mins. I thought that was insane lol. But if we’re just talking an 8 minute mile by itself then no im assuming Michigan’s heavyweight can run a mile faster than that honestly. 300 push-ups (even half assed ones) without stopping is impressive.
The 345 pound power clean by a HW is meh tbh. I’ve seen a 160lb 17 year old kid do 350 and a 260lb college fullback do like 460 ,or something close, for reps.
Not even gonna start on the 200lb bench lol.

It blows my mind when Spencer Lee says he doesn’t really life weights. He just started doing a little I saw in a video. Why would you not? This is a guy with olympic gold aspirations and you’re not going to try and be as strong as you can. Plus obviously lifting comes with other benefits than just strength. More size, quickness, speed, explosiveness, stamina. I don’t get it. I guess what he’s doing is enough to horse around college kids but you think the rest of the world is just climbing ropes, doing push-ups, dips and that’s it? Lol. Maybe it’ll work for him, and I hope it does, but I definitely don’t understand.
sry for the long rambling post.

Not to pick at nits, but I will. He said 1.5 miles in the 8 minutes. Still not freakish, but 5 minute miles are nothing to scoff at either.

i watched a doc on Sorenson from Iowa and he ran Cross Country for his high school as well. Im not sure how competetive he was, but As good as a wrestler he was im sure he gave it everything he had
