True but remember, he does have a few decent wins and (and I think this happened tonight) Kennedy can get horsed around a little bit. Don’t know why (probably just too high weight) but every time I watch this year I think he’s getting pushed around. Gabe could, I think, just outmuscle every neutral position.
It's only been a week since we saw it last... Give us some time. We can only take so much joy.

I did watch Ramos. He’s fun to watch. It’s going to be interesting if/when he and Lilledahl meet.

Most of gabe's good wins result from a guy making a mistake. The book is out now. I wouldn't favor Gabe in a rematch against most of his ranked wins.
Honest assessment. I will always cheer for Iowa but I’m a realist. Something big needs to change. Recruiting is #1. Cant survive on bringing in transfers for 1 year. That’s putting a bandage on on a severed artery. I’m frustrated and I don’t see a lot of positives going forward to challenge Penn St. I’m jealous of what Cael has created. That hurt me to say but it’s true. I hate to say it but we need fresh blood to make that change.
Marinelli won 4 Big10 titles, he beat 2 time national champ Vincenzo Joseph multiple times and was pretty freaking good.
Arnold is never going to be described similarly.
I really don’t understand a lot of what Brands does. Things he could do and still not be Cael but just be smart.
Like why did he redshirt Gabe last year? He could RS him this year and wrestle the freshman. Then RS AF next year and make the lineup work out.
Then not wrestling Gabe in the psu dual.

The problem with making a change is it’s not just a change, it who is the next all time great coach? Cael and Gable changed things in the sport.
Two guys in the last fifty years our head and shoulders above their peers. So who’s the next guy? Where is he at and can I get him?
It’s not getting a new coach, it’s getting a new legend .
I think you can look at OSU’s situation with a bit of hope. I think the key takeaway there besides serious financial backing, which Iowa has is that the powers that be knew they had to go outside of John Smith’s entire coaching tree to make a real change. Same thing for Iowa. Spencer wouldn’t change a thing, Dake, Burroughs, Nolf and maybe a few more names could potentially shake things up

Recruiting will pick up the second TnT are gone. Those two are a detriment and holding the entire program back. Most high level kids want nothing to do with those two. Without NIL, that roster would be bare.

Terry would be doing it out on work release. He just strikes me as having a few assaults under his belt if his coaching job didn't demand he control himself.
I agree with Madden they need fresh blood and someone who isn't an Iowa rerun. They need to go outside the program and get some young gun like a nolf or something

Gabe has never really been a big-time scorer against quality competition. Lots of 1-2 point wins in high school. Didn't he win by 2 once and then go overtime against Tate Naaktgeboren? How is he doing in the NCAA? That said....Gabe wrestled at 182 lbs. then. At 174 I think he will win the vast majority of his matches, but not going to have a high bonus rate. He is going to win a lot of matches for Iowa..........mostly for 3 points.

I agree he wins enough to make him relevant but not going to win them all and at the end of the year one of those losses kills the team score
