Lehigh match predictions for each weight??
whats-your-prediction-going-into-the-malenia-fog-wall-v0-3bhnjdaui4s81.jpg

No. 21 Pitt 21, No. 18 Lehigh 12
125 – Sheldon Seymour (Lehigh) dec. Nick Babin (Pitt) 6-3
133 – Matty Lopes (Lehigh) dec. Vinnie Santaniello (Pitt) 3-2
141 – Anthony Santaniello (Pitt) dec. Malyke Hines (Lehigh) 4-1
149 – Finn Solomon (Pitt) tech fall Kelvin Griffin (Lehigh) 19-4, 4:27
157 – Dylan Evans (Pitt) dec. Logan Rozynski (Lehigh) 2-1
165 – Thayne Lawrence (Lehigh) dec. Kelin Laffey (Pitt) 9-4
174 – Luca Augustine (Pitt) dec. Rylan Rogers (Lehigh) 4-1
184 – Reece Heller (Pitt) major dec. Jack Wilt (Lehigh) 8-0
197 – Michael Beard (Lehigh) dec. Mac Stout (Pitt) 9-2
285 – Dayton Pitzer (Pitt) dec. JT Davis (Lehigh) 1-0

Based on this (if no Crookham), I'd consider 197 a toss-up match with a couple other good matches, but it could be the second time I've seen PSU shut out Lehigh.

That's quite a statement considering Ferrari and Buchanan are there.
AJ at his best, sure. Question is if he gets to his best by March (or if he gets to March at all)

I'm okay with calling Buchanan a favorite but he is by no means some kind of next topic favorite. He's been very good on the backside in March (hence why he is the rightful #1 right now), can't deny that but he's been beaten or taken to the brink by several wrestlers in the field and Iowa aren't exactly known as the best game planners for upperweights come March.

But Buchanan is getting a year in "the best lightweight room in the country". ;)

I have Barr over Beard, btw. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Barr. It reminds me of when Mark Hall said Starocci was a future national champ during Starocci's redshirt year. Starocci put the same tag on Barr. I believe him.
Assuming Barr will be the guy for PSU at 197 this season, he is slated to face some good competition. The ranking numbers are (Intermat / Flo):
  • Beard (#6 / #6)
  • Novak (#17 / #13)
  • Elam (#4 / #3) (possible match-up at Collegiate Duals)
  • McDaniel (#26 / #33)
  • Poznanski (#14 / #17)
  • Buchanan (#2 / #1)
  • Cardenas (#3 / #2)
  • Geog (#10 / #20)
  • Braunagel (#13 / #10)
In limited results from his college career (and some 2024 freestyle events) so far, Barr's strengths appear to be defense, top game, gas tank, and just being a dawg. That's a damn good start, but still need to see more from neutral against good competition. If most of the above matches occur, Barr is probably gonna take a few losses, which is okay.

I hope he gets the match with Beard Saturday. That would immediately give us a clearer idea of where he stands.

Brooks is a ****ing beast plain and simple. Man we are blessed to have wrestlers like that every year
Two things: Buchanan looks much more muscular this season, and did you notice how Aaron stepped on Buchanan's foot during the throw sequence, not allowing Buchanan to initially defend the throw? I'm not sure if it was intentional or not.

Whatever it was Aaron Brooks was fearless and relentless. He just manhandled people. Reminds me of Nickel same thing

Wrestlestat has Seymour over Luke and Crookham over Davis and Barr over Beard

If Davis is big enough for Crookham - I think he can fight through the defense and score - if not - 7-2 Crookham

PSU rolls to cover 30pt spread, lots of bonus point wins: 34 - 3

Wrestlestat's data driven algorithm hasn't caught up with Luke yet. I'm not worried about that one. I doubt Davis beats Crookham, but we'll see, it's not impossible, I guess, just don't ask me to put money on it. Barr over Beard is a little surprising, but Barr has never lost a college match with a 18-0 career record, so I guess the algorithm is benefitting him for that.

The Wrestlestat algorithm for guys breaking into the lineup or with limited match history is deeply flawed; really not worth even mentioning. It's pretty useless.

Penn State travels to Lehigh to take on the Mountain Hawks at 2 PM ET.

Match can be streamed on FloWrestling. Penn State without some starters and also appears 157 isn’t entirely decided.
