If memory serves me, that’s not necessarily what happened. Stevens was coming off surgery that winter and was limited in spring practice. When CJF didn’t name him the starter, Stevens transferred after spring practice

He has the same skillset as Trace. Same legs. Same arm. He needs to be in the right offense. He should transfer to Akron.

I actually thought that the one drive that they got an initial first down on against Iowa looked really good, and he played pretty well on that one (the FG drive). But through his own inconsistency, some drops, and penalties, he never really got to go quick chains outside that one possession.
