I get it. We're all frustrated. PSU should have won today. The play on offense and defense was disappointing. Still, the program is ahead of where we thought they would be. They lost to a good team today. Franklin, the rest of the coaches, and the players will be the first to admit that they need to improve and execute better.

The players are young men who work hard, do things the right way, and have given us many reasons to be proud. Please stick with them, and don't be hateful.

I have nothing against the players. However, I think some of the in game decisions by the coaching staff did not put the players in a favorable enough position to win.

I agree. Again, I think the coaches will readily admit that and will strive to do much better. Franklin is all about family. I'm sure he and the other coaches believe they let the kids down, and I'm sure it pains them.

Nothing against the players at all, they played lights out.

Coaches on the other hand are professionals who are accountable and therefore should not be immune from constructive criticism.

Constructive being the operative word. :)

No hate, just utter disbelief that Moorhead kept going to the read option on 1st down, which just wasn't working. How many times were we 2nd and greater than 10 yards, simply because of that call? The players deserved better today.

Agreed. However, I'm sure the players will readily blame themselves. You don't see finger-pointing in this program.

By the way, one reason we are so frustrated is that we aren't used to losing. Think about that a minute.

By the way guys, feel free to hate me. I can take it. Load up the wagon.

No hate Bob just dissappointed. Of course it's nothing like the kids playing are feeling right now I'm sure. They'll be back! We will win out and let the chips fall where they may!:)

Franklin and the team can enjoy this loss for an hour, and then it's on to michigan state.

You still can hate me. I hate me for being a true blue Penn Stater. I embrace my culture problem.

Can't do it Bob because I'm right there with ya....

The coaches took this game away from the players by not allowing them to win it. They need to answer for that. They puckered up in the Rose Bowl and it bit them....they learned NOTHING from that and did the same thing tonight.

Maybe I missed it but...was there ever a wheel route run to Barkley?!?! Seems that’s has been a staple once or twice a game but it never made an appearance today.

Not having Bates and Bucholtz was the difference. No excuses. We are close but just not there yet
No, not continuing to be aggressive on D and continuing to run the read option of 1st down over and over, putting us behind the chains, was the difference.

Window for the playoff was this year. Offense next year takes a step back without Saquon/Hamilton/Gesicki. Although it might be addition by subtraction if moorhead leaves and we get an oc who isnt married to his system to the detriment of the team.

Maybe the OSU players just made more plays....you can blame the coaches for every loss and unfortunately that seems to be the new norm.

I hate no one. This game is the perfect example of why I no longer live and die, as I once did, with sports results. It was great entertainment, win or lose, and nothing more. Life goes on.

Did you watch the game. Our players were not given the chance to make plays in the 4th qtr

Please consider the fact that the OSU players made more plays because they were put in a position to do so, by their coaches. That is the point that I think many of us are trying to make at this time.

What percentage of our RPO handoffs to the RB lose yardage? I'm sure it's an insanely high number. I'm just dumbfounded that a sun-like glaring weakness in this offense is acceptable to the coaching staff. Dumbfounded, nah that's not strong enough. More gobsmacked than angry.

How do you win tough games if this offense can't get tough yards? 1 + 1 not equaling 2 here, and it almost seems like a stubborn, arrogance to adjust.

I think that prevent was an aberration that Pry probably immediately regretted. Lets hope that doesn't become a habit.

I'm not hateful at all, just very disappointed for the players who came to PSU when things were at their worst. I wanted the coaching staff to learn from the Rose Bowl and instead they doubled down on the exact same strategy up 2 scores late. If they didn't learn last time, should I trust they learned this time?

I thought the OSU players made a lot of plays down the stretch. Thought Barrett was awesome. Just not sure our kids were given the best chance to make plays in the 4th quarter. Now maybe that was all OSU but I don't think so. I think some of it was self inflicted wounds

So Penn State's players didn't beat Wiscy last year, Chryst lost it. Or Penn State's players didn't beat OSU last year, Meyer lost it. We scored 38 points, that should be enough to win. The defense couldn't stop them because they didn't tackle well and didn't get off the blocks well. Every coach loses so the coaches don't suddenly forget how to coach. Players have to make plays.

Did Pry make them play while laying on the ground? They could have made some stops and they didn't.

Yeah, don't hate on the coaches, they put us in a position to win for all 60 minutes!!

No such thing as a perfect game. Sure players make mistakes... so do coaches. Just like a player might make a bad read...some Penn State coaches misread the situation with OSU momentum. I hope they learn from it.

Thinking more on the offensive side. At the end, the defense was done. Which makes the strategy to run super conservative plays.and punt the ball back to OSU with a chance to take the lead all the more puzzling.

Seriously...not getting pressure on the QB all game and you drop back into a soft zone. Sticking with man gives our guys "a chance" to make a play. Playing a soft zone is essentially conceeding a completion when you aren't getting pressure in the QB.

And if we would have gotten burned long (like we did just before that drive) posters would be screaming that Pry should have made them earn it. Coaches can be questioned in every game, especially losses, but every team loses so there's more to it than just play calling and defensive schemes. Players have to make plays.

Drive that ended in the last field goal. Barkley was free down the sideline but Trace didnt have time to throw. That was the difference in the 4th. We couldn't rush Barrett even with the blitz.... Trace was running for his life before a receiver could complete a route.

Did the play calling lose the Heisman for Barkley? I’m not sure
Don't think so at all. Saquon is still very much in the thick of the Heisman race. He did take the opening kickoff to the House, and had another impressive rushing TD.

But Moorhead (and CJF) can presumably see what the rest of us saw quite clearly. Those RPO handoffs to Barkley got stuffed repeatedly (i.e., every single time Saquon got the ball), yet they still kept going back to them, even in the final series, when they desperately needed a first down or two to improve field position and kill clock. The OL was having a difficult time to begin with. The play calling just compounded things.

Yes, they've lost 2 games by a total of 4 points
....damn them
...we deserve better. What a bunch of candy ass, fair weather fans.

I don't disagree but then we couldn't complain about giving the kids a chance to win the game. I just don't think we gave our kids a fair chance to win the game but rather we're relying on OSUs players to lose the game...I don't like that strategy....TRUST YOUR PLAYERS....and I don't believe they did that tonight....on offense or defense.

Huh? So they coached the final 6 minutes of either game correctly, that's your argument? I'm hardly pitching a fit here, just pointing out that it's disappointing for the kids.
