The US Open freestyle championships occur from April 25-28 in Las Vegas. The junior and senior level World Team Trials take place in Lincoln, Nebraska from June 8-10.

Which Penn State guys are going, and who are most likely to perform well and make a US World Team?

The five national champs qualify automatically for senior level World Team Trials. I believe Molinaro and Nico are already qualified as well.

I'm particularly looking forward to seeing David Taylor (who has been on a tear of late) along with Nico (who now has some solid international experience and success under his belt). Molinaro should be ready to go and defend his 65 KG position, but look for Zain to be a major threat. Not sure how those two against one another in the room.

I'm hoping Nolf goes 70 KG this time around. I think he could give James Green problems now. (Nolf lost to Green in something like a 7-4 match at the Southern Scuffle when Nolf was a true freshman and Green was a senior.) Will Hall and Joseph both compete at 74 KG at the junior level rather than the senior level?

How will Nickal look against Dean, Taylor or Cox at 86KG? I'm assuming we see Nick Lee at 61 KG.
Any other PSU guys likely to compete? Matt Brown? Is Varner done? Lots of exciting matches ahead.

I wouldn't be sad if a couple of em had to come to Rochester for the Last Chance Qualifier in May.

I think Zain will win that spot....Nico looking tough too. Yes Nolf will beat Green this time i think....Nolf has gotten a lot better....Bo's made for Freestyle....Hall and Joseph too....Just wish Hall would not drop any weight...He needs to get BIGGER for 174. Hit the wights hard from top to bottom and get super strong legs....Well check that because i thought Zain would go 143 but he moved up....I would have stayed down...Looks like he had a better shot....Oh well never count Zain out....

How many PSU guys will be at the US Open in April? It's only a 3 1/2 hr drive for me so I'm going to be there for sure.

WOW Nolf and Zain are at the same weight....Zain moving up right....
I would be surprised if Zain is at 70 KG. Yes, he is listed at that weight on the website, but I doubt it commits him to it in advance, and that listing can also be an error. 149 lbs. in folkstyle falls between 65 KG (143.3 lbs) and 70 KG (154.3 lbs) in freestyle, and Zain wrestled at 65 KG last year. Either way, and depending up seeding, he might have to wrestle Molinaro or Nolf. Should be interesting.

i highly, highly doubt Zain goes 70 at the open. 1st of all, he's small. second of all - the champ at the open sits in the World Team Trials finals. i would find it odd that he wouldn't try to get that bye at 65, where he'll certainly be for the Trials.
