PSU Rutgers Match Thread

Close matches against wrestlers that are not even top 8 in the conference are generally not harbingers of success at the NCAA tournament.

Oh piss off, 6 days ago Cutch was fine and suddenly he'd go 0-2. FOH

Don't ever remember saying he looked good. Caywood and Marchok fell off considerably. Zach Bruce was hanging with him. Mattiace match was ugly as hell. Only match he looked ok was Berkowitz.

Cutch will go 0-2 at Nationals at 197. . .
STRONGLY AGREE...We are in major trouble if we do not make a change at 74 and 97 come Nationals....We are not getting points at 33 41 74 and 97....JMO but i have been involved with this program for over 25 years....I know what it takes at Nationals....Jimmy wrestled better but when he wrestles elite guys they are too big and long for him....Just very worried....Cael will see for himself next week....I did see Hall in uniform tonight sitting on the bench so Cael is thinking hard....Hall will place top 3 and maybe even win it all...Plus he would give us a lot of needed bonus points !!!!

if you got your earbuds in like this jerk....the nickal interview was great...called out the fans leaving early during the Nevills match....said guys work their buts off so stay and watch....

sitting in the parking garage should come with more amenities....like wifi....I mean its 2017

Our RU "friend" Abro has flipped the looney switch and resorted to "Ped St" references while complaining about the officials and - get this - the "PSU homer" BIG announcers. (Meaning Gibbons and Johnson!). Unreal. Perhaps he expected a close match or something.

I post on the RU board frequently and he pissed me off tonight. @Abro1975 if you read this, fvck off.

Yea, Gibbons is a legendary "PSU Homer"....LOL! Final was 37-6 and he's crying about officiating??? Zain, Jason, Bo and Nick scored 22 all by their lonesome!

I am very very worried to say the least....I don't understand what Cael is thinking...Is he thinking they are all of a sudden going to be really good at 33 41 74 and 97 ? Very frustrating cause i know what's coming....For 1.... Get Hall in the line up....2...Let Cassar wrestle off with Matt for 97 !!!!

Gibbons and Johnson "Penn State Homers"?????????

Now that, is pure comedy gold. Those two would root for a Russian/Turkish all star team over Us.

Phfft. I stayed and was only held up about 30 seconds in the garage.

Must say, I continue to be amazed at how resourceful both Jason and Bo are in getting quality opponents to their backs. These guys are just incredibly dangerous dynamic wrestlers. It just does not matter who they wrestle - they are looking for the Fall constantly and are relentless in not giving up and just "settling" for the solid win.....it just does not matter, if their opponent does not absolutely turtle up, they're going for a ride one-way......or the other!!!

Yeah, the dude is normally a voice of reason among the chaos on the RU board, but he lost his mind tonight.

First I've heard this, why did you wait until now to reveal your Hall plan?

At 141, the first thing I noticed is that last year, Ashnault looked a lot bigger than Jimmy. This year they looked similar in size. Not sure that length was Cutch's problem, he did not look as confident as he needs to be.

A very simpleton analysis on short notice. We still look good, but it's tight.
No guarantee we get the same points at Nationals, but for discussion purposes lets say the 68.5 points that 149, 157 and 174 from l last year is repeated at 149, 157 and 184 this year. Last year 133, 141, 165, 285 produced 13.5 pts(9,3,1.5,0). Joseph and Nevills get about 21 if they hold serve based on ranking not counting any bonus. Assume 0 at 133 and 141 so 21-13.5 = +7.5

So what's left?
125, 174/184(swapped for discussion) and 197. 41 points last year so that is huge.
125 13.5 point with no bonus.
174 1.5 points, 1 win in championship and 1 in consi.
197 1.5 points 1 in championship and 1 in consi.

SO that's 41 last season, 16.5 this season. Net -24.5
7.5-24.5 = -17 points using a conservative model
We won by 25.5 so 8.5 points which is a small cushion. However, I do think Joseph, Suriano and Nevills get some bonus and 133 if Cortez healthy brings in some points.

Too early on the pull or not pull Hall shirt.

Watch it again. Cutch once again goes in on a single, his opponent out lengths him, and comes within an inch or two of getting the counter takedown, very similar to what Pfarr did to him and what Studebaker did to him.

Length is a problem. He is overcoming it, but it's a problem. He'll need to continue to overcome it. I believe he will.

Shorter wrestlers that are extremely sure of themselves and aggressively finish, get those takedowns all the time. Hesitation, then not so much.

Cutch goes low - to the ankle - virtually every time...he inevitably gets flattened out, head and laces down to where you start hoping for a stalemate call so he doesn't give up two. He really has very few moves from neutral. At one point he had double underhooks locked in with his hands locked in center of back....Gibbons thought for sure he was going to either attempt a throw or trip and was just taking his time, as opponent would have virtually certain been pancaked. He then inexplicably just let it go....baffling.
