PSU Scrambles Lineup?

Cenzo was held out of the Keystone Classic and the Lehigh match. I clearly recall Cenzo running off the mat after the Binghamton match very agitated. There was speculation that he got dinged up a bit. Don't know if that was ever confirmed, but I'd rate or more likely than a weight issue.
First--I do agree this weight swap between Cenzo and Hall is NOT happening. But last year Cenzo was held out of the Keystone classic due to a dinged up shoulder---more precaution then anything..but for Le high he returned from Thanksgiving a little heavy..i got that from a very good source.... but he held the weight the rest of the season and won another NC, so im saying the not make weight for Le High was a fluke.

Chief has always typically been a pretty credible and good poster, he used to post on here more often than he does now. Probably because of posts like these, he figures, why bother.

The animosity between HR and BWI is old. Let's talk about wrestling.

If he doesn't post here because people don't care for wild speculation, without any actual sources, then we're better off.

Eggum came out with Minnesota's weight changes a week after the 17-18 season. This is exhausting

Exhausting? Perhaps an apt description of those waiting for Minny's next National Championship.

Weight class plans? I've never understood why anyone thought they were owed that information months before the 1st match. Bodies change, incoming recruits can have an impact, etc. CS seems to have a process that works. Eggum is not even in the conversation at this point in terms of coaches that have a good track record dealing with their college team's lineup.

Read the hawk thread yesterday. Hall running from Valencia and Joseph running from the bull. PSU guys move because they’re running and hawks move for the team Joseph beat Kemerer in region and state finals his Jr year. Regional didn’t go to OT

So the green smiling emojis didn't tell you that it was sarcasm?

I was there too. I thought he was just frustrated that he didn't put more of e beatdown on his opponent.

I don't.

Just a little envious is all. PSU has to show their cards eventually.

Yeah, Cenzo walking around at 200 does not pass the sniff test.
Cenzo was one of the guys that my two boys got a picture with, that unfortunately I was not tech savvy enough to post last week. My boys both weigh 135 and looking at the picture, there is no way Cenzo is anywhere near 200.

how about this
verk at 149
berge at 157
nolf at 165
Vj at 174 and HAll redshirts so he can be around to help destroy the dreams of HR during Lee/Bull Senior season?

I also found Footage of the 200+ pound joseph running from the Bull

A bit crazy to think, but when is the last time a national championship team, with only two graduates, 'might' have only 2 wrestlers from the prior year wrestling in the same class as before. Only Nick Lee and Jason Nolf might be the two stable slots.

A lot of wrestlers across the big ten don't know who to fear yet.

Then again, do you think Jason could cut to 141....?

You people are something, believe every rumor that comes down the road. Get a life!!!
Good point.
I remember that time there was a rumor going round that Zain was going to redshirt the year after he finished 5th as a true freshman. Heck, that same year someone started a stinking rumor that Nico was going to redshirt.
Quentin's senior year, do you remember that rumor about Q going to 197.
Heck just a few years ago there was a rumor floating around that Bo was going to 184 and have to beat the Dean kid from Cornell.
Just last year, Smalls started that freaking far-fetched story about Suriano leaving and heading back to Jersey.

Those freaking unsubstantiated rumors. Gee whiz huh?

My favorite rumor of them all was when the same guy for several days in a row kept telling Cael Sanderson was leaving Iowa State to come to Penn State.

That would be a heck of a thing to ask as well as a heck of a thing to do relative to Cenzo. Here’s a guy who has an absolute legitimate shot at being a 4timer, and do so in a division where there isn’t a single wrestler he wouldn’t be favored over. If he moves to 174, now your putting your 2 times going for in a weight class with Valencia. Now if Valencia moves up to 84, I think it’s much less to ask on all sides. Anyone know what Valencia plans on doing/going weight wise next season?

Who knows. I've always thought that Cenzo looked a bit larger than Hall, though I know people carry their weight differently and that Hall certainly never wrestled or looked as if he was undersized or not strong enough at 174. If his true walking around weight is 168, then him making the cut to 165 probably isn't an issue. As for who's sitting at each weight waiting for their PSU opponent, I'm not sure it makes much difference. While I'd agree that Valencia is one of the favorites to repeat, particularly if he goes 174, it's still all about matchups and Cenzo very well may match up better against him than Hall does. Same for Hall and the Bull (although I still believe Cenzo beats him every time that they'll wrestle this season if he stays at 165).

There's no harm in having the discussion. My suspicion is that Valencia's going up and that Hall and Joseph will be the favorites this year at 165 and 174 (or 174 and 165 ;)).

Fyi...the Weight Certification timing changed this past season. Prior to 2017-18, wrestlers had to be certified "no earlier than the first day of classes", and "no later than October 10". October 10 is always the first day of official, countable practices. Now the rulebook states "no later than November 1", which is the first day of allowable competitions. The earliest they can certify is still the first day of classes.

I mention this because a 200 pound Cenzo, safely descending to 165, in about 2 months, is not reality. I use this example believing :) that there's something amuck with the rumors. Time will tell.

It's that time of year. Rumors, supposition, innuendo, and the like will all be answered soon enough. Discuss away, it's one aspect of message boards that I find interesting (and bizarre at the same time).

3 options i see from this statement:
a) cenzo is not 200 but will descend to 165
b) cenzo is 200 but will not descend to 165
c) cenzo is 200 and will descend to 165 unsafely :p
