Southern Scuffle Thread

Cortez won 8-6. He looked more content to hang out on bottom in the third and not get turned. There were a couple positions he got in that look like he could have pushed for a reversal and instead just hung onto a leg and waited for a stalemate

Wow, LP will be in his glory this morning.

Cortez gets up early and then basically stalls his way to a win the last two periods. Not a good showing.

This is going to sound harsh, but the kid that Cortez just wrestled was terrible and he should have absolutely big brothered him. I don't care if Nick Lee goes 0-2 today. I'd rather see him in the lineup from now on.

Thanks for the updates, as I'm just driving home. I'll attempt to give more input once watching on flo, but no promises due to hangover.

Given his draw, I'd be bothered by Nick going 0-2.

FWIW, Byers did not think Keener had the pin.
the view on Flo was probably better than the one Byers had, as it was perfect, but it was close. Either way, ref was in terrible position as Keener locked the cradle up to make the appropriate call.

IDK, I watched it on FLO and didn't think he had the pin. You could have probably gotten a Perry/Evans photo of a pinfall, but don't think he held it long enough.

Is there a way to get two mats going on the screen at the same time?

I've been pleasantly surprised by Keener. He seems to get after it and is performing better than I expected.

The positive with Cortez is how hard he came out in the first period and put up points. He might have gassed himself in the process as I don't think he's used to that pace in a match yet. Give him a bit of time to figure this all out before throwing him under the bus. If he can maintain that pace for three periods, he will be fine.

I'm not sure if Berge and Verk project at the same weight next year but Verk has been impressing so far. Granted we've only seen Berge in 1 open tournament and he was up at 157. I know many here felt Berge was the better recruit than Verk

Cenzo in hole on 4, it'll have been awhile since we've seen him actually wrestle.

Cam Coy (UVA) up 2-0 so far. Winner of that bout faces Nolf. Coy is a 3X PIAA champ and true freshman. Could be a battle of two 3X PIAA state champs next round if Coy wins.

My New Year wishes from Flo Arena: A "depth" button that shows the upcoming matches on the mats on the dashboard. Like on Track. A button to click to see the match scoring. Like on Track....
How about not having to restart Arena if you have to switch to another app.....
