US Open

Nazar Kulchytskyy was down 5-1 to Renaldo Rodriguez Spencer but came back in short time to win. Kulchytskyy is on track to see Nolf in quarters.

Verk went up 4-0, then gave up a TD and an exposure off that TD in the second, going behind on criteria. With under 10 seconds left he was given a step out point, which he looked to earn, though from the camera angle it's hard to tell. Brick thrown, but 5-4 Verk with 4 seconds left if challenge denied.

And it's denied. Verk gets hit with a caution for going in reverse with only 4 seconds to go but he holds on to win 5-4.

Meanwhile, Josh Rodriguez, coming off a Pan Am gold, up on Zane Richards 3-0 midway through first on Mat 11. Richards wins a nice scramble to cut the lead, but JRod (I think I can say that, right?) goes right back at a leg and wins the step out point. 4-2 at break.

Richards spins behind from crackdown position and goes ahead 4-4 on criteria. JRod right back with a step out, 5-4, and then another, 6-4. Richards gets a leg and converts at edge, goes back up 6-6. And JRod right back with a step out, 7-6. Richards with another TD, 8-7, and time running out, can't get gut. :08 left. That's how it ends. Richards 8-7, great match.

Looks like Verk is up again soon on Mat 5. Just got the mat assignment alert. Is that 5 or 6 now?

Nolf again looking aggressive but not overcommitting on his shots. Finally catches an ankle and goes up 2-0. Clarke now in on a double and Nolf winn-dixies him (who said he can't bring folk to freestyle?) for two exposure, nearly pinning him. Then another two, followed by two turns for the 10-0 tech.

Vito Arjuau up 13-10 on Jesse Delgado. Wish I'd caught the beginning of that. :43 left in second. 14-10 final, with Delgado looking to turn it into a UFC bout toward the end.

Frayer Lavellee ending was something to see. Frayer prevails 7-5, but waiting for challenge. Challenge prevails, Lavellee wins on criteria, I think.

Arujau locks and throws Fix for four. Immediately follows that up with a TD to go up 6-0. Next, in a scramble the ref called 1 for Arujau, upon review, it goes 2 for Fix. Fix gets another TD to make it 6-4 Arujau at the break.
