Well, Michigan screws us again.

Now that Michigan State (Notre Dame), Michigan, and Ohio State (Oklahoma) have all screwed us, we have absolutely NO room for error. We have to hope Wisconsin remains undefeated even though their schedule sucks.

Even if we beat an undefeated Wisconsin, if we have one loss, pretty much every other potential one loss P-5 Conference Champ will trump us along with a one loss Notre Dame.

Us and Wisconsin beating Michigan now won't mean squat in the Big Picture (Playoff Selection).

Based on the way West Virginia got hosed on some big calls, it looks like the Big 12 will do all they can to keep TCU undefeated. Washington State looks REALLY good, maybe even better than Washington, and there is no way on earth we would get the nod over the Alabama/Georgia winner or Clemson, everything else being equal.

Unless we go undefeated (and as of today, even if we do), Peach Bowl here we come. : ^ )
Dude the season is only halfway over. Did you really think at this point of the season last year that we would be on the edge of making the 4 team playoff? There’s a lot of football to be played.

Upsets happen. Who would have thought Clemson would loose to Pitt or Mich loose to Iowa last year. Control the things we can control as CJF would say. Things are going to happen that we won't expect.

Any loss by a big 10 east team helps us win the division. You're over thinking this. Lots of football to be played yet. When OSU or Michigan lose, our path becomes easier.

OSU
Maryland
Rutgers
Michigan
Michigan State
Nebraska

And probably Wisconsin

So we are really competing for the east championship now with OSU, Michigan, and Michigan State and all 3 now have one loss.

It would have been better to beat an undefeated and highly ranked Michigan team, the truth is that our playoff hopes are in our control. We are ranked in the top 4 (soon the 3rd) and a one loss team will not leap over us.

Anyone that thinks espn will take their clown show to WSU, then fly Herbie to S.C. to broadcast the game must have rocks in their head.

I disagree. If we lose a game,
It is all about winning the big 10 east

This helps

But when Penn State wins, they keep their probabilities stable, if not make them rise. Why get your mind worked up in what others do when you're in the driver's seat? Last year was the time to worry about others because PSU needed Michigan to lose twice and OSU had to be the one to give them that 2nd loss. When you need help, you worry about other results. PSU doesn't need any help right now -- tunnel vision focus on winning each week and going 1-0. It's a long season. Things will start taking care of themselves like they did today with OU losing. It's only October 8, still plenty of time for conference attrition. If PSU loses to either Michigan or Ohio State or even Michigan State coming up, then depending on the conference standings, there may have to be some concern. But not until then. All of this worrying is taking away from enjoying each week and each win as something special. 6 years ago you'd have been wishing on every star in the universe to have this luxury.
It's worrisome because Penn State will lose, just like every other team in the nation (yes, Bama and Clemson included). It's far more likely there will be multiple one loss teams instead of multiple zero loss teams as proven by history. So considering that everyone will have at least one loss, then you have to start figuring how you will get in. This discussion happens every year that this seems like the year where there will be four or five undefeated teams and there never is.

Michigan Michigan Michigan, the rest takes care of itself. Keep winning one game at a time.

Yup!

To turn a phrase on an old Woody Hayes interview quote.

Q: Why focus on winning one game at a time?

A: Because we can't win Two!

if we have one loss
You lost me there. With that assumption, to whom do you feel Penn state will lose? That loss will be more detrimental to their playoff aspirations than any other wins or losses by other teams over those they cannot control.

Yeah but only Michigan in conference or division. The non conference losses don't mean anything with regard to the division or conference.

Don't lose. Simple. That's the Penn State burden. Lose and we're toast.

Notice I said Simple not "Easy."

There's no way 26 is winning the Heisman. There's no way PSU is getting to the final four unless undefeated. Even then it could be a toss-up. Just watch. It's very obvious to most people how the writers come down on this.

"Same as it ever was, same as it ever was." And even then, it didn't always matter.

Never sorry for a Michigan loss.

As others have said, one game at a time. Win them all and we're in the CFP. I'll tell you what, with the way Franklin is recruiting this won't be the last time we're in this position. This is going to be a Top 10ish team most years going forward. There will be other bites of the apple.

Enjoy this, folks. We've been through the shit. This is more fun, right?

It would be a shame if ESPN skips our game. Comcast Spotlight would lose out on the advertising.

Alabama is the only team that is "elite" right now, and they looked like this last year at this time and lost to Clemson in the NCG. Clemson didn't look very "elite" after the loss to Pitt either but managed to win the NC.
Nick Saban's press conference was a hoot as he related how he asked his players are they going to start listening to him or continue to listen to "You Guys" (sports media, ESPN) regarding how good the players are ! He said something to the fact the media was feeding them "rat poison". Sorry- don't have a link.

If we win out, we’re in. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. With one loss? Oh boy. History is not on our side. I mean, have we ever, going back to 1969, NOT been screwed over in the close-call cases?

Unfortunately, I don’t see us winning out. It’s very hard for any major conference team to run the table these days.

Still, it was an excellent victory yesterday. We’ve got one week off to relax and enjoy it. I mean, really, top-3 ranking, undefeated in late October, it’s almost like the good old days.

True, all anyone can really ask his to be in the discussion most years.

It would have been better for MSU to beat OSU, not Michigan. Then OSU would have two losses (MSU/Michigan) and Michigan would have two losses (Us and Wisky). I'm looking Big Picture. If last year taught us anything, it's that politics are against us and we will need all the help and credibility we can get.

My opinion is this year it may likely take an unbeaten team. But you have to win the Big Ten first and for that I hope Ohio State and Michigan each lose a couple games.

You play both MSU and UM. MSU being stronger and UM a little weaker shouldn’t affect you guys much.

The East will be decided when PSU plays OSU.

They only had one loss. We had two. We should have trumped Ohio State, not Washington.

And this year, if we lose a game, we will most likely have either a one loss ND or one loss or undefeated PAC 12 Champ to deal with. ND already trumps us with their win over Michigan State in most circumstances if we lose a game, and if they lose to Stanford and/or USC, the PAC 12 will trump us because they were able to do something one of the best teams in the B1G couldn't. Beat Notre Dame.

It is very unlikely that ND, Washington, WSU or even USC get through the season without adding a loss to their records.
