WNO

Hmmm..I was told Bo would be wrestling in WNO. Thought he was a pretty good source. Guess not...
I heard the same from a source close to Bassett and also from someone disgruntled about being left out. So, I'd guess it's true.

I'd pick Blaze over him right now but there are multiple worthy choices.

I didn’t think he made it. Was your disgruntled wrestler Perry? I feel Dalt should get the call being a PA State champion. I am shocked Conner Harer didn’t get asked yet

OMG, stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

This year Perry finished 3rd at states and was 0-5 against the finalists. He's a candidate for the national Who's Number One match only on Planet Brock.

Was not Perry but not at liberty to say. No a local guy though.

132 is Ben Davino vs Kyler Larkin. This means 1 of Blaze, Forrest, Lilledahl is not participating at WNO (Presumably by their choice)

We have. Normally that is reserved for weaker weights or those with no clear top 2. But if they did a 126 of Lilledahl Forrest Blaze and Raney that would entail some incredible matches/matchups
This could be the four man bracket they usually do. Nice call

Who are we thinking? That crew is so deep. Lots of talent from 120-132. Larkin surprised me since it was a Folkstyle event. I honestly see Davino crushing him. Maybe Gibson gets the spot and we see the super 32 rematch. Is Gibson still wrestling. What’s the story, lots of talent for sure.

I was thinking the round Robin would happen at 126 not 132.

I didn’t know Zepeda either. I looked him up on track. He beat Perry and Larkin at PNL and Ayden Valencia. But the most interesting fact was he wrestled 155 at Cali FS states back in May and Basset was wrestling 120’s in the same time frame. He is going to make Bo look like little. I think it’s a day before weigh in or at least Whos #1 used to be.
I am a fan of Basset and always cheer for Pa, but he isn’t overcoming the size in this one. If they are the same size, there would be a different outcome imo.

Jordyn Raney vs Jax Forrest at 126. I really wish they did the 4 man at this weight with those 2 plus Lilledahl and Blaze. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lilledahl and Blaze both needed a bit of a break though considering they just wrestled at worlds. Still, that would be about the best 4 man bracket ever at WNO

I can't take anything from Zepeda wrestling at 155 in May. The fact is, he was a 132 last year and just won Fargo at 138. Plenty of kids wrestle "fat" sometimes in the off-season, especially in local FS events. Other kids don't - Bo strikes me as one of those kids who is always at "competition" weight.

Bo is what, 16? I put on 25 pounds of good weight when I was 16 without lifting much. Let's see what he looks like when he gets on the mat before you trot out the excuses for him.

So the match is for WN3 ?

Pretty safe to say Zepeda isn't cutting 20 lb for this event. He wrestled up at the last one.

Think of this as an opportunty to see how Bassett fares when not pushing around munchkins. Which is what he'll need to do in college.

I agree we will see how he responses. FLO said he won Ironman, Super and Powerade but didn’t list 115. To his defense, he beat some decent munchkins last year. I just watched the Match with him beating Lilledhal and knox. He handled Desmond and I am really high on him.

I still think Zepeda is too much of a man. It will be a similar match when basset lost to Sprately.

Awesome. I had heard that a few weeks ago from another forum. Was starting to think that was just a rumor matchup.

Pretty sure Bo is 17 now (or about to be), so he may be past his big growth spurts. Last I saw him (this summer at some point) he looked like average to big 126. I wouldn't have guessed that he'd be big enough for 138 at something like WNO. That alone makes this one of the matches to watch.

I heard this last night but not from the best resource, is WNO a 30 hour weigh in and they give weight allowances? They weigh in a day and a half before and some weights have 3-5 pound allowances. So a wrestler going 160 Could be 180 plus come Saturday night. IMO, This is wrestling not the UFC.
If these matches are from true #1 spots on the rankings, why would they not be scratch and two hours before? I guess a few years back TJ Stewart showed up 5-6 pounds over, FLO gave him time to get it off and he didn’t attempt too at all. So FLO asked his opponent if he still wanted the match and he did. He lost and Stewart got the #1 spot. Needless to say never made that weight again.

This is as bad as Super 32 having the VIP early weigh ins.

Not exactly - there are potential weight allowances, but only if both wrestlers agree. I think only one match out of the 20 total boys and girls matches have an allowance this year. Allowances and day before weigh ins have been the format since the event's inception, or at the very least since I've been involved in 2017.

If a competitor misses weight there's not much we can do except ask wrestlers if they still want to wrestle. However, the match is no longer factored into the rankings, so in Stewart's case he did NOT gain the #1 spot because of that match.

There are many events that have day before weigh ins or allowances that affect the rankings. I don't know anyone who has ever done HS rankings that only factors in results from 2 hour scatch weigh ins.

Glad to see the interest in WNO. It's a fun event and I'm proud to be a part of it.
