Using your example, why should a USC team that has demonstrated that it's not as good as the numbers 1, 2 and 6 teams even get an opportunity to play for a so called national championship? Why should those number 1, 2 and 6 teams potentially have to beat that USC team again?I think you’re right that it shouldn’t really happen that often. It should be very rare and only in extreme circumstances like my fictional USC team just losing to the #1, #2, and #6 teams.
Every time these discussions come up I think back to Villanova in ‘85, NC St in ‘83 type basketball teams that would never have won a title if a committee just deemed them unworthy. (I know- different sport dynamics but same general principle).
If you’re talking about a 3 loss Bama who has lost to a 5 win Oklahoma team and Vandy then no way- I’m with you on that.
When does he ever support any of his claims with numbers or facts?Agreed. Just a take. Where is the data to back it up?
How many other teams does OP follow as closely and as invested?
Emotional take with zero information other than an assumption.
So you think that if Oregon loses a close one to OSU, then they should be dropped below Boise St?It's not a BS rule. IMO, it's the only rule that makes sense, as everything else is just an "eye-test".
Ohio State had 118 yards rushing against us before they ran out the clock, and Ford had 20 snaps and 1 tackle, and Donkoh had 38 snaps. And Beamon had 7 snaps and no stats, just in case anyone brings him up. I don't think the situation just became THAT dire. This makes the margin of error to beat an OSU, Georgia, Texas or Oregon zero. Would need to play the game of our lives to beat one of those teams in the playoff. OSU would run it down our throats without the added depth of Ford and they will exploit us with no Donkah. A moot point because I highly doubt we face them a 2nd time.
The amount of injuries is staggering.
Football is a violent sport. While we fixate on PSU, there are many other programs around the country that have similar, or if not worse, injury situations. We have a new class of recruits coming soon for 2025, and there are several of those players that have had injuries in high school. High school players get injured and most of those players were not playing against D1 competition across the board. Sometimes they are the best athletes on the field in high school, but doesn't mean they won't get injured. It sucks at all level for an injury, especially a serious one. But honestly, while we have had our share of injuries, I believe most top teams could say the same thing.Obviously many injuries are part of the game but under Franklin we seem to have way more injuries than most teams under his tenure.
Is Franklin pushing guys to play when maybe their bodies aren’t ready to return from injuries. Is it an issue of strength and conditioning? Body preparation, resting the body after games. Pushing guys too hard in practice?
Any ideas? Because to me our injury numbers are well above average under Franklin.
I thought dwarf tossing was outlawed.Brand throwing the other Brand onto the mat - a -1 deduction
Incorrect! The two best running backs in the league are Saquon and Derrick Henry.IMHO, the difference in the game was that Nick Chubb is close to 100%. he is the second-best RB in the league (to Saquon) and made the CLE offense multi-dimensional. The Steelers DL had to respect the run which allowed them to pass. This is uber important in a slop game where getting five yards on first down creates a lot of flexibility on 2nd and 3rd downs.
The game was really two games as the first half was played on a decent field with the second half being played in a snow globe. That snow really shut down pass rushes as it was tough to get started out of your stance. Garrett may have had a dozen sacks if not for that snow.
I was never a Winston fan but he has been really great with the Browns on and off the field. The snow was really heavy and wet so the passing and catching were pretty special (except for Njoku's drop but he made up for it on the two point catch, which turned out to be huge).
Really fun game for both teams. Sets up a GREAT game in Pitt in two weeks. If you didn't see the NFL prime team doing snow angles it is below. Clarrissa Thompson does them in her white/cream outfit. She refers to Winston as "A national treasure". LOL

Numbers shouldn’t matter. See Gale Sayers. You can clearly see that he is one of the best backs of his era. He does things most others cannot do and he has time to do more. Hope he does not get hurt because he is one of the best ever.I’ve been checking Pro Reference for Hall of Fame comps. He’d be in good shape if just 2 more of those Giants seasons reflected his talent. He’d be around 8500 rushing yards instead of about 7000.
Anyway, let’s hope he stays healthy through this contract. He’s salivating being able to run behind Mailata, Dickerson and crew
How has Izzard been doing? His role just got larger. Has Blanding seen any kind of meaningful snaps? Artis?Ford was really coming on as the season went along. He clearly went past Beamon in the DT rotation a couple games ago. Team will really need Ford next season to be a run stopping DT anchor so hope "long term" is not an ACL.... Time for one of the young DT's to step up and get a good bit of playing time vs Maryland to be ready for the playoff game, so the team needs to get up big on MD early so that can happen. Gilliam, Artis or Blanding, time to step it up and take this opportunity!!
Really, same with Donkoh. He'll be an anchor of the OL in 2025, but whoever will be backing up Rucci at R-OT need to get some snaps there vs MD as well. The PSU running game has been pretty weak lately and this won't help it as Rucci is not nearly the run blocker Donkoh is.
@Dylan Callaghan-Croley , Would Williams now back up both OT positions, or will a player like Sexton move into an actual backup OT role? Also, is JB Walton, who has played both inside and at OT, still out or could he back up Rucci?
I think you really believe that there is a number which proves your stance, but there really isn't. If you're an "eye test" kind of guy, then to each his own, but you might want to get some glasses.Look at the totality of his record - including availability. Good grief.
Look at the totality of his record - including availability. Good grief.Allen had 7 carries for 10 yards vs Minnesota, and 6 carries for 20 yards vs Purdue. That doesn't seem like
Nothing but gratitude for the Giants execs for letting Barkley go. They never should have drafted him the first place -- it was like acquiring Secretariat and using him to pull a manure wagon. So glad he was able to escape and find a team that can give him the opportunities the Eagles give him. That dude ain’t sleeping to well….🙂↕️
Allen had 7 carries for 10 yards vs Minnesota, and 6 carries for 20 yards vs Purdue. That doesn't seem like dependable.By many metrics - including the ability to pass protect.
But as a runner, he has been superior and is why he has started the majority of the time.
Singleton is fast. But he goes down every easily. Good back, but a disappointment.
Allen has overachieved and has gotten the tough yards much more than Singleton.
Neither are great, but Allen has been much more dependable. And tougher.
Crookham has Stanich, who has a couple impressive wins and only a loss to Mendez in unattached action so far. What does Crookham do, that Davis can't get a feel for by training with his teammates and coaches and the NLWC guys?
On the chance they meet at nationals.
IMO that's more of allowing Crookham to get a feel for Davis, as Lehigh does not have the same depth and variety of training partners.
