If we can’t beat Ohio State

The word never needs banned regardless of the opinion being stated. Gee, I 🤔 I was expressing my thought using the civility of our times. Shucks.
I’m an old guy. So based on my experience, the civility “of our times” is not very civil at all. It’s really not that difficult to debate points of view without using insults like idiot or moron or some of the stuff a couple of our more infamous posters come up with on a regular basis.
I’ve read a lot of your posts. You seem like a pretty intelligent person, probably a lot smarter than me. Just the kind of poster who can help raise the level of discussion around here.

Stock Market Update (Where's Eduardo?)

100%. That's why it's so difficult to stop government funding for NPR & PBS even though the original reason for those things no longer exists. The government expanded benefits because of Covid and now they're permanent. Small rural post offices can't be closed. And yes it's both parties. Both parties get campaign contributions from businesses/organizations who want government sponsorship.

Also consider that every organization wants to grow. I know this sounds cynical but how many times have you seen a charity advertise that "The need has never been greater"? When have organizations that support education, healthcare, agriculture, foreign aid, etc ever said "We have all the money we need"? Funding for these things grows from 100 to 200 to 300 then somebody proposes cutting it back to 250 only to get accused of not caring about kids, poor, seniors, etc.

It's almost impossible to get elected by promising to take things away. That's why we need a balanced budget amendment.

Snyder incident

This thread back up?

Say what you want about this whole thing. But Snyder's tweet was absolutely tone-deaf.

And the bible verse he picked is specifically about Christians who are being persecuted... BRO!
Lmao. First he was federally trafficking, and now he should burn at the stake for the bible verse he picked. You sure are taking this awfully personal. You're starting to sound like a certain mod on the Iowa board. Are you like personally offended?

OT - Stories

I had heard about the talc under the door but never actually saw anyone do it. Pennies in the door happened often! We also found out that they only had a limited number of key options. If you went around Beaver you could find other doors that your keys would unlock.

Anyone remember a bunch of straw and ducks/chicks in Beaver in 1985?

How about a road kill groundhog that caused some people to have to get rabies shots?
Metal trash cans filled with water leaned against the door. (Doors obviously opened in.)

Large 10x13 mailing envelope filled with shaving cream- open end slid under door and large textbook slammed down. Shaving cream propelled into the room. Followed by running back to your room so no one knew who did it!

Bottom Line: If this OL keeps getting stuffed at the LOS during crucial situations, well have no chance. I get really tired at watching Larry Johnson celebrating on the sidelines year after year when he DL stops us inside the 5YL or even on the goal line. It has happened so many times.

It happened again last year; at the Shoe a few years back when we were up 28-10 and still lost; at the Beav a few years back when McSorley has 175 yards rushing, yet on the final 4th down we handed off to the RB and ran right at the best DL in the country for about a 2 yard loss. Pathetic!

This OL has to move the Buckeyes off the LOS like UM did for 3 years for us to have any chance to best them.
It’s wierd how obvious owning the line of scrimmage is to winning a lot of games, but this simple axiom frequently gets forgotten because it’s not sexy, I guess.

As an Eagles fan, I love watching Lane Johnson, Mailata, Dickerson and the rest piledrive the defense late in games on long punishing drives to put a game away. No better way to break a team. Having Saquon takes it to another level but they’ve been doing it with average backs as well
