I am more concerned with them playing too tight. Minny has nothing to lose and it is senior night. They can take all the chances and if they lose by 40, who cares?

If Minny plays their A game, all PSU has to do is play their B game. But if PSU turns the ball over, has 50+ yards in penalties along with a couple of drops by the WRs anything can happen. It is important to stabilize early and nullify the senior night energy.

I see a fairly good chance that PSU brings their A game. There's been so much punditry about PSU being overrated and ripe for an upset, the team might come out kind of angry and eager to prove the doubters wrong.

The other part of the Franklin record, aside from the big upsets, is that sometimes they have come out and just spanked teams in situations like this where people were doubting them. Like how they took it to Iowa last year. Or some of the wins over pretty good Wisconsin teams. Granted they haven't really spanked a good team this year but I do think it's possible, they have improved on O and D and they're getting some people back healthy.

How about a Steelers / Brownies thread.....

Another thing about this game. Who the hell was on Jerry Jeudy for crying out loud?!
Was this Porter Jr.?

You look at this game and the Steelers did just enough to lose. Let's see we have a missed FG and a 15 yard shanked punt that sets up the Browns close to midfield instead of their own 30 at the most crucial time you needed a good punt. Two blown 4th and short plays along with idiotic let's run the ball in the middle of a stacked defensive line on every first down. And yes let's continue to run Harris instead of going more to Warren because we like averaging 1 yard per attempt. Last but certainly not least let's make freaking Jameis Winston and Jerry Jeudy look like Montana and Rice while letting them convert on every 4th down attempt.
Jeudy was a 15th overall pick out of Alabama by the Denver Broncos. He's never lived up to his hype and the Broncos traded him to the Browns last March. he's shown flashes but his best game was yesterday by far.

Fair enough. But Garrett has been a great guy and player since he was drafted so the event with Rudolph is really out of context and character. Perhaps Garrett thought he heard the slur. Perhaps someone other than Rudolf said it. Perhaps Rudolf said something similar but not the "n" word.

The only other thing that Garrett ever had against him was that he has several speeding tickets and once totaled a Porche on a back road when he was exceeding the speed limit on a slippery, newly-wet road. he is involved and very vocal with several local and international charities. His teammates love him.
You forget that Mason was charging Garrett like a man possessed while Garrett had one of his arms being held back by another player, and his free hand had the helmet. To me this was a typical gut reaction fright or flight response to the charge by Mason and totally out of character for him. Had it been me in that situation I probably would have done the same.

No one's saying what he said is or isn't true.. we all have opinions. As an opposing coach, saying that is super disrespectful and as Petch says, just put's more pressure on his guy. Have you ever coached?

I certainly have for many years..I would never make those comments about an opposing player in public. Yeah, do I tell my inner circle what I think/feel..of course..but you don't go out of your way to make a comment of disrespect.

What's his excuse going to be when Beau beats his kid next time.."welp the less skilled kid won, had a little more grit that time, but skillwise he's just not there"
100% this. My guess is the Tan One is just super frustrated at his team not being in contention for a title in recent years and he’s grasping at straws to illuminate one of the few bright lights in his program. Problem is he’s simply too dull to realize how disrespectful this is to Beau. Not the brightest bulb in the lamp shop by any means.

I do agree that it unnecessarily puts extra pressure on his guy. I just don't see the disrespectful part of it. That's what I was addressing.

NLWC Embarrassment of Riches

I just received the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club email promoting their March 2 elementary and junior high tournament in Rec Hall. There is also an associated clinic in the wrestling room.

The reason for the thread title is the list of potential clinicians:

*NLWC Coaches and Wrestlers and probable clinicians include the following World & Olympic Medalists and NCAA Champions:
  • 4X NCAA Champion, Hodge Trophy Winner, & Olympic Bronze Medalist Aaron Brooks
  • NCAA Champion Anthony Cassar
  • Olympic RTC Coach & 2X NCAA All-American Jordan Conaway
  • 4X NCAA Champion, 4X World Champion, and 2X Olympic Bronze Medalist Kyle Dake
  • NCAA Champion & World Silver Medalist Franklin Gomez
  • Olympic RTC Coach, World Military Champion, & 3X NCAA All-American Morgan McIntosh
  • Olympic RTC Coach, NCAA All-American, & Pan American Champion Mark McKnight
  • 3X NCAA Champion, Hodge Trophy Winner, & U23 World Gold Medalist Bo Nickal
  • Olympic RTC Coach, 3X NCAA Champion, 2X Hodge Trophy Winner, & World Gold Medalist Zain Retherford
  • Pan American Champion Josh Rodriguez
  • 3X NCAA Champion, 3X World Champion, 2X World Silver Medalist, 2X World Bronze Medalist, Olympic Gold Medalist, Olympic Silver Medalist Kyle Snyder
  • Head Olympic RTC Coach, 2X NCAA Champion, World Bronze Medalist, & Olympic Gold Medalist Jake Varner

It just isn't a fair fight.
When Jake Varner is last on a list of a dozen.

Lol.

With regard to the grounding/illegal touching penalty, Winston’s arm was hit by a pass rusher as he was throwing it causing an erratic trajectory of the ball. I believe that is why it was called illegal touching as an OL who is ineligible cannot be the first to touch the ball. I believe this may have been discussed during the broadcast. Maybe the OL thought it could have been a fumble and why he attempted to take possession of the ball.

OSU/Michigan currently have the 2025 #1 and #2 overall recruits in the country. Both are QBs. Our QB is currently ranked #610 overall in the country.

LaSalle QB Sidwar is verry good. why not look at this player.
I found him in the 2026 class. Looks like a solid prospect and PSU just might offer but waiting to see how he develops through the next couple of years. Looks like he already has a few solid offers

FB Recruiting Potential Portal Targeting Tool: Regional Breakdown

A member of our team here at Happy Valley Insider has been working on something for us here in his spare time and he's decided to share it with you all here. He's scraped every Rivals recruiting profile from 2020 to 2024 from the region (NJ, NY, PA, DE, CT and MA) and compared that to those player's PFF grade this year. I thought it was pretty cool to see how local kids are performing collectively across CFB this year.

This list only contains players who have hit their positional snap threshold to get a positional ranking from PFF (ie if you've only appeared in 5% of your team's snaps this year, you won't show up on this list)

My guess is that Olesh remains committed to MI after the Underwood announcement.

Boring and senseless in one post is bad enough but 0 for 2 is pathetic. Matthew is obviously brighter than you. It's more like the competition at TE at PSU is too much compared to UofM. Unlike you, Olesh is too aware to place his decision one game.
isn't Rappalea thought to be even better than Reynolds?

Probably true but AK does some funky stuff on offense and it probably makes it tough to not have penalties.
remarkably, and probably a lot due to Allar's management, the pre-snap penalties we've had have been minimal (knocking on wood). We haven't suffered a lot of illegal motion or too/not enough people on the LOS. Most of our penalties have been unsportsmanlike on the defense or holding.

On what site? I use the Rivals and 247 Composite sites as my recruiting sources - and both have St Clair and Underwood as the top 2 overall recruits in the country. Same with ON3. In fact, the #3 overall recruit is also a QB headed to Alabama. Definitely the year of the HS QB

Unfortunately, PSU has had games where they have had 5 games of over 60 yds in penalties (and a few others over 40 yds) and we've seen some drops from WRs over the course of the season. The drops aren't as bad as seasons like 2003, 2004, 2023, etc but in terms of penalties, it feels like this has been the worst year in a very long time.
