Inside NIL: CBS analysis of how much starting players are being paid by position in P4 conferences

Link below. QBs are highest -- no surprise there -- with $500,000-800,000 on average but sometimes even north of that. OL and DL are roughly tied for second in cash value at $250,000-600,000.

For many of us who started following college football back in the 1960s, there's still a lot of culture shock associated with the new reality that has overtaken the game in just the last few years:

2024 Waterway Duals

The 2023 Waterway Duals included over 100 teams across high school, high school club, middle school, and elementary divisions. The tournament included over 1300 wrestlers from 18 different states.

The high school club gold pool was made up of Steller Trained (2 teams), Malvern Prep, Team Nauman, Lion’s Den (Faith Christian), Revival Knights, The Compound RTC (Bishop McCort), and Team Shutt. During the 2024 wrestling season, wrestlers on these 8 rosters produced 13 PA state finalists, 5 NJ state finalists, 2 National Prep finalists, and a state finalist from MD, WV, VA, NY, TX, MN, and DE!

Big-10, SEC developing plan to share revenue with players

You knew it had to come to this, and it's probably a good thing. It would hopefully impose some order on the Wild West scene that NIL has become while bringing benefits to players and officially acknowledging the sport's new reality. We're never going back to the Good Old Days:

A (not so) great look by Flo

For those who remember, I used to post videos of matches on youtube back in 2016/2017. TLDR: is that I got banned without any warnings or strikes (at least I was not alerted of them) and youtube has been a pain to use since. I finally took the time to dig up who filed the appeal and it was pretty awful.

I always assumed ESPN/NCAA or a similar giant corporate entity banned the original matches were broadcast on ESPN 3. The truth was way worse.

It turns out that flowrestling, who never owned broadcasting rights for nationals and had to post clip compilations so as not to violate restrictions, were the ones that decided to flag my account out of spite. Despite not uploading a single match/clip that was behind Flo's paywall (the only time I ever did so was after I asked Willy if he would allow me to use a clip of theirs from the southern scuffle), flo decided to get really petty. I wish they'd just bury the hatchet on this one and remove their claims so I can delete the vidoes and get my ****ing playlists back.

PS: You have to admire the fact that instead of submitting one claim, they made sure to make four separate claims so that I would be banned immediately instead of getting a warning or a 1st strike.

Supersize his casket - RIP Morgan Spurlock

You might not recognize his name, but you're probably familiar with his work. I always thought he managed to put some fun in his documentaries.

“There has been this massive shift and people say to me, ‘So has the food gotten healthier?’ And I say, ‘Well, the marketing sure has,’” he said.

Best Big Ten teams since 1993

The blue blood thread got me thinking about the 1994 team and where it stands among all Big Ten teams since we joined the conference.

There have been four recognized national champions in that span: 1997 Michigan (shared), 2002 Ohio State, 2014 Ohio State, 2023 Michigan. I would presume 1994 Penn State rounds out the 5 champions -- declared or otherwise.

What's your top 5?

2023 Michigan is the only 15-0. 2002 Ohio State was the first to go 14-0 and beat a machine in Miami. 2014 Ohio State arguably was playing better at the end of the year than any team, and 1997 Michigan had the best defense. 1994 Penn State had the best offense of the bunch, and a good case to be the best overall.

(not including Nebraska until they officially joined. Otherwise, 1995 Nebraska runs away with the #1 spot)

Power 5 Schools - $20 mil

NCAA has agreed to allow power 5 schools to share up to around $20 mil in revenue to ALL athletes. One video I heard up to $22 mil. Also the NCAA has to pay $2.7 billion in damages to ALL D1 athletes over a 10 year span going back to 2016.

The $20-22 mil revenue sharing can start as early as fall 2025.

Will this help PSU bridge the gap with NIL? My opinion YES......BUT only to a degree. The revenue sharing gives players a baseline amount.

EX)...We are in a battle for a 5 star D-end. He gets offered a $100k baseline from PSU and Ohio State. PSUs collective offers an extra $75k but OSUs collective offers $300k. Big difference.

FB Recruiting 2025 RB Kiandrea Barker earns Arkansas offer, sets Official Visit

Class of 2025 running back commit Kiandrea Barker earned an interesting offer today from Arkansas, now why is this interesting? Despite being a native of California, Barker spent a good chunk of his life in Arkansas as he moved to Arkansas during elementary school and played his first two seasons of high school football at Beebe High School, before moving to Texas last season and then was expected to move to Miami Central (FL) this season, but now is back at Beebe.

(UPDATE: Barker will take an OV to Arkansas on June 7th)
