Garbarini said he heard it straight from the horse's mouth, but when challenged by west2east who he heard it from Garbarini hasn't responded.
He's since responded on the thread but a joke about Mark Perry giving him COVID rather than anything about who he heard from.

Not sure Nick cares what anyone thinks. He just wants to win.
He works his ass off for what he gets and does what he wants when he wants to all to get better.
Freshman in college and Nick now I'm sure are two different cats.
Think about it. Away from home for probably the first time, away from Dad girlfriend etc.. Had a real chance of becoming a national champ and gets sidelined with an injury, dad, girlfriend in his ear etc...
What would you have done at 19ish??
We expect way too much from our athletes here, what we get is amazing..
Suck it up and enjoy it...

I’m not a Suriano fan but I am a PSU fan and with Suriano on this team it is a championship team. I’ll take a championship with a hired gun over the alternative every time. And even with my dislike of Suriano I understand just how good of a wrestler he is. He is elite and with Spencer not 100% I actually think Nick is the favorite in that match. Everything just lines up too perfectly for him to come back, beat Spencer, and help PSU win the title again for it not to happen. I’ll throw up in my mouth a little every time but I’ll even cheer for Suriano as long as he has on a PSU singlet.

In theory he may not enroll anywhere for fall semester especial considering the cost of out of state tuition.

We all want an answer before fall classes start, me included, but he will likely concentrate on free for the next 2 months, them get into folk form.

Whether he can secure a full scholy or not, a big share of the 9.9 might make more sense for both him and a team to focus on January and beyond.

How does scholarships work, can they be reallocated in the Spring?

After further reflection, a couple points.

1) I hope Spencer Lee got multiple surgeon’s opinions. I want him to be able to walk without pain as an old man. To carry his kids on his shoulders without gritting his teeth.

2) I want Nick Suriano to graduate from Penn State. If he goes to Sunkist after that, great. He should do whatever is best for him.

That's a very interesting question to which I have no actual answer. However, if Suriano does return to the good guys, he can make mad $$$$ with NIL vision quest themes.

I completely agree with @johnstownsteel. A finals match vs Spencer would absolutely be epic.
There is a path by which Suriano vs. Lee happens in the national semis:
1. Glory goes undefeated with a win over Lee at Midlands + wins over Arujau in the dual and EIWAs.
2. Suriano and Lee split matches -- one wins the dual, other wins B10s.

It's not something I'd bet on happening, but feasible if Lee has lingering knee issues.

Don't rain on the parade @El-Jefe

I dont see Glory beating Lee, even a gimped Lee. Glory is good but I think Spencer is better. Is Arujau going at 125 or 133?

If any of you Suriano haters are people who did not like pre-NLWC Gilman and who now like Gilman, please raise your hands so that we know how to judge FWIW. :)
I’m sure many like Gilman now just because he is at NLWC instead of Iowa but I think more like him because he also seems to have grown up. His actions now compared to when he was a college athlete at Iowa seem to be night and day. I think those changes plus being apart of NLWC are why people came around and now support him. I’m pretty sure that if Suriano came and completely bought in to the PSU way and grew up in a similar fashion to Gilman that most of his detractors would come around as well.

I spoke to Nick the year he had to sit nationals out after the injury at the post nationals party. He seemed genuinely sad and determined to come back and win a national tourney with PSU. That off season everything changed. I still wonder how much dad played a roll in that. If Nick had matured and is ready to bring his talents to 125 and help us towards a team and individual title I am all for it.

Maybe Dad has matured too? 🤷‍♂️😉

I have never disliked Nick. I have never disliked any particular wrestler because I don't know them personally. I never like extracurricular stuff (I.e. trash talking, getting in people's faces etc) but a lot of these guy grow up and grow out of those things. I trust in Cael so much that whomever he brings in I will root for. If Nick comes back that's great.

I do think if Nick wants to go MMA the fact that Bo has the MMA gym next to State College and has guys like Cassar (who is also from jersey) there and Mike Brown could be a selling point for Nick. He can get incredible wrestling training at the NLWC as well as outstanding MMA training at American Top Team.

I really hated Gilman at Iowa but now I like seeing all his improvements at NLWC!!But then again I hate all Iowa wrestlers!!

Me too. I got no inkling that he was unhappy and leaving. Was very focused on getting better and winning it all. I know some have posted in the past that he doesn't fit PSU culturally but I don't buy that as much of an issue. Our culture is winning and that's what Suriano wants. Not everybody in the room has to have the same personality.

Suriano coming to PSU would benefit both him an our program. I welcome him if Cael does. What's that saying, Iron sharpens...oh never mind! 😁
