Anthony Knox and dad drama

Because if New Jersey does, then they don't have to.
Exactly, schools are afraid to punish any child for fear of parental abuse. School boards across the country will give into the parents all the time. Grades, teachers, athletic issues (my kid got cut, my kid does not start) and any other discipline issues...school are afraid of litigation.

Well Knox Sr is level headed... oh wait.

I have no problem if they get suspended , I am getting tired of reading where everyone things they have to accept every invitation to a fight. The fact is folks need to learn to walk away in most cases , Knox is 19 so he needs to learn that there are adult consequences at this age.
Well have to agree to disagree. This day in age any one can say or do anything with no real fear anything but the law. This is bad. Kids in school can do nothing to bullies anymore because if they throw a punch they are in trouble....bullshit. just walk away or learn how to verbally fight back...scoff. if it were that easy than those loud mouths should just learn to fight instead of trying to abuse the system in their favor.

Might be a factor, but more likely they're copying pro sports -- leagues punish players, teams rarely do.

I think we all have a snap point. That's when you loose the ability to stay calm. It's happened to me a few times. Once in a bar, enough said on that one. Once in downtown Bangor when a young teenager threw a snowball at my car and hit me in head because I had my window down a little to clear the window. I jumped out of car and jacked the juvenile up against building. My wife was agast.I wasn't thinking, I snapped. Probably the last snowball the kid ever through. The other time was at Bangor Football game and some 18 year old threw a beer bottle at me when I was standing on bumper of pick up. The bottle hit the ladder rack just above my head. Didn't know the kid at all, he was from Northern Lehigh. I snapped, I ran after car which had to stop at busy intersection. The kids window was down and I reached in and grabbed him from his long hair and was pulling him through the window when local cop grabs me. I knew the cop and explained the situation. They arrested the kid. I had zero control of my actions. Today you be scared that someone pull out a gun.

A relative of mine in a very rural area was walking from his house to an outside building carrying an airsoft gun. He was reported and they locked down some preschools.
He was charged with felonies, terroristic threats(while never saying anything) among other crimes.
He never pointed the gun said a word, nothing.
There is no more to this story other than what was said. They charged him and prosecuted him and basically forced him to plea bargain to have them drop the felonies.

Regarding this altercation, I rarely wade into these types of conversations, but I will give you my general perspective as someone who worked for 32 years as a police officer on the streets. Far too many of us allow our emotions, especially anger, to get the best of us. Unless you are protecting someone from a serious attack, it is rarely the prudent choice to engage the aggressor, whether verbally or physically. Discretion truly is the better part of valor. Over the years I saw far too many individuals killed, seriously injured or imprisoned because they allowed their emotions to get the better of them. Take a few deep breaths and a few seconds to contemplate the potential consequences (physical, criminal, civil, reputation, etc.) if you decide to engage in situations like this.
You probably know the story behind that wrestler from Monte Vista who was stabbed to death because he got into an unnecessary altercation. Maybe you want to share that story here. It’s a good example of what happens in a situation where the other guy doesn’t play by the same rules that you expect.

If you didn't listen to this morning's proceedings, Knox's lawyer pointed out that at these tournaments, there is no "bench." Since Knox's final match (and thus, competition) was over, the lawyer said that Knox was free to go wherever he wanted (say, the concession stand), and therefore wasn't bound by that rule.

I am unaware of that story.

Nothing as of 30 min ago. Guessing the judge has already decided but is waiting until it's too late for additional legal shenanigans.

Details are scarce on the judge's reasoning. Anyone have a nj.com subscription; maybe it's detailed there
Not the full reasoning, but probably enough here: https://shoresportsinsider.com/anthony-knox-reinstated-nj-wrestlig-state-tournament

Officially, the judge merely granted a stay -- i.e., kicked the can down the road: Knox can compete until the courts rule otherwise.

Though who knows if any court will take up this case prior to NJ States, so the judge might have made a political decision -- he might have intended to rule Knox eligible for the entire postseason, with plausible deniability "until the courts rule otherwise wink wink."

One interesting facet: Knox's HS was listed as a defendant. Therefore this stay prevents the school from declaring Knox ineligible for the postseason, until a court rules they may.

The judge's full order is embedded in this article, as a 19-page PDF.

Basically, the court ordered the injunction because the NJ commission did not provide Knox with notice of their intent to suspend him. (Lol, guess Knox was surprised to learn he crossed the gym to join a fight.)

I stopped reading around p. 5, since its description of the event too closely resembled a press release written by Knox's attorney.

In my Maryland Wear and Carry class, within the first 15 minutes of class it was made very clear that brandishing a gun is a felony and you really need to learn to swallow your pride and walk away from idiots doing stupid things or looking to cause trouble.
The only time I ever pulled my gun out in public was at my gender reveal party. They only hit me with a misdemeanor. The judge let me off due to limited visual evidence.

Any thoughts that the father should be the one suspended from attending any event for the remaining season? After all, he appears to be the underlying cause of the series of events.
