Uh, not really. Carriage charges and channel placement are all negotiated between Fox (BTN is typically sold as part of a bundle with FS and FS1) and cable operators. They are not always the same for a given geographic region. And while I realize that your numbers are only an example, no big cable company pays close to a dollar per subscriber anywhere.
Wrong again I see. In 2017 the BTN AVERAGE carriage fee was $0.48/subscriber which was a 30% increase from 2012. The $0.48/subscriber is a blend of in footprint and out of footprint rates, there is a big delta in the rate in footprint versus out of footprint.
"They are not always the same for a given geographic region."
Yeah, that's what I said. Different rate for in B1G footprint versus out of footprint which was a big factor for Maryland and Rutgers, because of their populations (subscribers).
SO, SO wrong, OH SO WRONNNGGGGGG. April 16, 2018:
"Now, the Big Ten has a mammoth footprint, thanks in part to expansion, and the vast majority of the network’s estimated 60 million households are in-market:
Subscribers within the conference borders that pay well over $1 per month for the Big Ten Network on a basic tier.
Comcast viewers outside the footprint, meanwhile, have been paying an estimated $0.05 – to – $0.10 per month to get the Big Ten Network on a sports tier."
