So if he were just at M2 or Young Guns last year, he would be valid FR, but since he was with the NLWC, he is not? I contend that it is a strong argument because Levi is only 18 years old...the actual age of a college freshman.
He didn't graduate high school and not enroll in school for a year. He did his true high school senior year in State College.

Yeah, but he was their Kyle Snyder then.
Cael uses the Buckeyes as a staging area for future stars. First it was Kyle, then Kerk, and Bouzakis or Mendez will probably be next. That way when a roster spot opens up at PSU he can take his pick from the National Recruiting champions. 👍

We spoke to Mendez’s uncle at Big Tens, he is apparently very happy at tOSU, Bouzakis not so much, since he can’t beat Mendez.

I’ll agree with the age argument,if you’ll admit that Levi wouldnt be anywhere near the wrestler he is had he not spent last year (basically redshirting) in SC.

Actually, you're dead wrong - redshirts are not allowed to wrestle for NLWC (a Regional Olympic Freestyle Training Center) - they would be a member of the PSU wrestling team and wrestle unattached in (or a limited # of attached) in Folkstyle Tournaments. He also was not enrolled at PSU, so no, that is not effectively a "Redshirt".

Oh boy. Here we go again with CJFis JoePall and his rules

And not just wrong, Dead wrong. Lmfao. That's intense. Maybe I'm dead wrong about this lol

So you're trying to claim that ZR was not enrolled at PSU for over a year when he RS'ed??? Last time I checked Levi Haines had never enrolled at PSU until September 2022 (and absolutely was not enrolled at PSU in September of 2021 or even January 2022). During the Summer 2021 through the Summer of 2022, Levi Haines wrestled for the NLWC, not the PSU Wrestling Team (you can't wrestle for PSU - or participate in team activities/events - if you're not enrolled at PSU). OTOH, Zain absolutely had been enrolled at PSU for over a year the year he RS'ed and ABSOLUTELY WAS a named member of the PSU wrestling team the year he RS'ed. The two situations are absolutely NOT analogous - quite to the contrary, they are non-analogous. Zain Retherford was a named member of the PSU Wrestling Team the year he RS'ed (and had been enrolled for more than a year as he was midway into his Sophmore Year when he RS'ed) - Levi Haines was NOT a named member of the PSU Wrestling Team from 09/2021 through the Summer of 2022 - and in fact had NEVER been enrolled at PSU until 09/2022. Levi Haines wrestled for the NLWC from Summer/Fall 2021 until Summer 2022. During Zain Retherford's Sophomore year at PSU when he RS'ed, he was a member of the PSU Wrestling Team, not the NLWC.

So, do you consider that a “theoretical red shirt” year or do you still choose to refer to Levi as a true freshman based solely on his age.

It’s just discussion guys, im merely trying too get opinions.
How about based on the fact that he is a TRUE Freshman. This is his first year out of HS. That is NOT the same thing as greyshirting after HS for a year.

You gotta love Levi Haines. The same can be true for so many of the PSU wrestlers so I feel bad just acknowledging Levi. The guy is a stud and just keeps impressing. I had my doubts when he was a freshman but the stuff he showed is not a fluke. The kid is the real deal. So glad I can be a fan and watch him progress. Country boys can survive!
