Anyone have any good tailgate BBQ recipes, that can be prepared easily in March temps and winds?
Going back to vintage beer and food conversations.
How about an couple of Bloomsburg Berrigans Subs(Grinders if hot) and chase them with a 6 pack of Maximus Super Beer

Since neither Kerk or Cassar is an eligible student at Penn State
You didn't hear about the study abroad kids being sent home from Italy? Since their semester is wrecked and they're in isolation since returning, PSU is offering a compressed 12 credit online course in Italian studies. Word is both Kerk and Cassar have enrolled and have now satisfied their academic requirements; they'll wrestle off tomorrow am with the winner facing Snacks after his Econ 102 class with the post-season berth on the line.

I find it ironic that we are sharing Celine Dion songs as she will be a PPG arena next week, almost one year after her (the) man Cael coached his way to his 8th title there.

I was thinking that maybe "I'm your lady" Celine was singing about was actually Mary from " Mary Loves the Lions" see post February 17th. But we know her man was not Seth as her post was "Neville lack of visible muscle mass".

In three weeks when Seth is on the awards platform, and turning to the fans on all four sides (some a half mile away) she'll change her "tune". o_O

Old news! ;) But awesome news!

i posted this in the Bird thread, so it might be a forum violation to cross post, but since this is about nothing, and someone mentioned beer, I figured I would ask here too.

.....anyone ever been to Lithuania? Me and the Mrs are thinking of going this summer. Interestingly enough I read one page that said they have great beer, then another where different posters commented it was the worst beer of any European country.

i am looking for any tips, not just beer opinions.

btw, the Mrs doesn’t know yet, but she does want to visit sometime because that is her heritage. I just want to go somewhere new.
I haven't been but have looked into it. My nephew (sister's son) is Lithuanian on his father's side and in touch with his relatives over there. I'm probably the only one in the family who would fly with him. (His father doesn't travel, and my sister won't spend that long on a plane.) Like you, it would be somewhere different to go for me.

My recollection is very faint ... probably little that you couldn't find on Rick Steves or the like. Vilnius, Kaunas ... Klaipeda for the beach ... there's a castle on a lake island on the outskirts of Vilnius.

One thing that stuck with me: you're far better off flying nonstop elsewhere in Europe and then taking a discount airline the rest of the way. PHL to Lithuania was 2+ stops, 20+ hours, and mega expensive. But the Euro discounters fly nonstop to virtually everywhere else on the continent (especially to/from Vilnius), often for under $100 RT. Save $1000 or more per person -- and get there faster with fewer connections.

....sadly....i live here (yes by choice)...but i will give it to you
I actually vocation in Ocean City. For those not familiar with the beach town, it is a dry town. No alcohol sales.
A footnote: Just before taking the main bridge from Somers Point to Ocean City there is a liquor store located on the last piece of land before the bridge.
In real estate, they would call that " location, location, location."

I'm quite familiar with the Maryland, Ocean City. I use to go there before 1986( the year I got married) One night, me and a friend were in a local hangout bar on 38th? Called Sweetwater's. We drank ourselves penny less in our pockets. We didn't have the dollar bus fare to go to our rental on 128th. Walked home in the sunrise. Fun times.
After I married I would run a March Golf trip for 16 guys and we would typically end up at either Hooters, Secrets and/or Krocs.

Thanks for the flight comments, I did not ice that and was shocked how low some of the round trip fares were from Krakow to Vilnius, like $39! I am thinking of spending some time in Poland, or possibly London, not sure yet.

Oh my lanta, where did thirsty wrestling mom go??

Is it Saturday yet?? We have run out of things to talk about.

Except the old beer discussion on the other thread.

Since this is a random thread, does anyone here on the forum make sourdough bread? I just started my first starter. I don't have a lot of time for bread but I'm hoping to make Gus McCrae Lonesome Dove style biscuits every weekend, at least.

I have no idea what those are, but if they are brought up on a forum thread they must be good.

I would never try to make it, not my skill set, good luck.

I just buy it. My favorite is Boudin in San Francisco. Locally it is Breadworks in Pittsburgh's North Side and Whole Foods sells two types that are pretty good. Good luck with the biscuits, kill it with the butter.

while I am not sure what that is, no six packs for me. One at a time. What's on the sub?
Maximus Super was a malt beer with alcohol 7.5 % made in NY. It was available in the late 70s.
If cold sub, Italian with OV and there season shaker.
If hot, Roast beef and swiss with mayo

CTS, Ocean City is a wonderful family friendly place that brings back wonderful memories of a much simpler and less complicated time. Both my wife and my family vacationed there in the 60's and 70's and we now return for a long weekend every 2 or 3 years. Among many, some of my favorites are the Spaghetti and Meatballs at Luigi's and Johnson's Caramel Corn on the boardwalk.

Circle Liquors.

Not that I've ever been.

Circle Liquor - we visited quite often. I remember getting some horrible stuff called Hop N Gator back in the 70's. We also dropped a few bucks at Tony Mart's and The Anchorage. ( 7 beers for $1) Are those places still there?

Whenever I visit, my dad has mandatory stops at BreadWorks and Pennsylvania Macaroni Co.

Ocean City. Best known in NJ wrestling as the home of Pat Lynch, who was a match away from being one of the best in NJ high school wrestling history.

Lynch had won 99 matches in a row and two state titles when he went up against Damian Covington in the 1991 Region 8 finals, where Covington beat him 8-4. Covington repeated the feat in the state finals at 189, winning 5-3.

In Lehigh for EIWAs. Haven't been in this room in 34 years. Bethlehem is a nice town. Let me know if there's some bar I should definitely go to.

Years ago The Tally Ho was a good go to for the Lehigh crowd. John Fritz came in after Penn State Lehigh dual when he was coaching. Last time I was there the neighborhood was getting a little rough.
If not go over by Wind Creek (Sands) casino and numerous bars have been opened on the nearby city blocks. A unique one is Social Still, it's in a old bank and has 2 levels. They make their own booze, vodka , bourbon ect.

Fegleys Brew Pub across the river on Main Street. Good beer, good food. If you can get into Easton, Weyerbacher is the place... tasting room in their warehouse, no food, but snacks.
